what is the normal cost?

I can't remember all the costs. Your child will need soccer cleats (no toe cleat) and shin guards. I believe the city usually furnished the jerseys from the registration fee. Usually a team Mom would schedule everyone to do halftime snacks & post-game snacks. Usually a couple of times for each during a season. The usually would take up a collection for a coach's gift at the end of the season, usually a gift card to a restaurant or a shirt signed by the team members or something like that. Cost really was not that bad.

shin pads and cleats are not too bad.
you can pick em up used if need be

getting on a team probably is $75-$150 for a house league

We paid over $2k a year for the travel teams as I recall. And around here if you are not on a travel team by 12 it is unlikely you would make it on a high school team so it kind of is mandatory.

There are spring and fall schedules around here. Once you get into high school and are on that team you only play with the club team when the school is not playing.

Travel teams have a lot of practices too. I think it was usually at least 3 days a week. High school practice is every weeknight

but until your kid is further along those are no concerns anyway.

Trust me, soccer is by far one of the cheapest activities to get your child into.
We've been through gymnastics, tumbling, t-ball, basketball, track, volleyball, cheerleading and viola lessons.
With soccer you don't need a fancy gym or a bunch of equipment, just a ball and a pair of cleats.
Of course if your squid ever goes the select team route you can forget eveythimg I just said if you haven't already.

Glad to see that at just 4 years old, your daughter has taste. :thumbup:D Dunno how expensive it is to join a team ect where you live, it's pretty cheap and easy to over here, plus the popularity of it meant that during the holidays we'd just go over the park every day with a ball and play for hours and hours with more and more kids joining in. Used to end up about 30 or so a side with the goals numbering almost into triple figures. :D

Oh, and one tip, claret and blue is the best colour for a football shirt unless you speak in a Brummie accent. :thumbup:D

I think we paid like 15 to 25 dollars a season if I remember correctly. These were not sponsored teams this was just city run teams.

I will tell anyone. Soccer is a great sport for little kids. there is no real boring time. teaches coordination and is good exercise.
