well she seems to be. not real sure. we had her in ballet but that lasted about 2 months. she didnt like that:24::24::24:

My 5 year old was doing great at swimming until that day where the instructor tried to force him to put his face under water.. He goes swimming with me but refuses lessons now..

We will be looking at other things and soccer is big here.. Not sure if we can get him in as it may already be too late..

Your daughter has shown great taste to want to play the greatest game.

The littlies run around in one big pack after the ball, with no off side and no real positioning until they are older.
So...sign her up and join in the fun Mrs Fuzz.

My boy scored 2 goals on the weekend, then turned to the opposition with his hands on his hips and said

"ha ha white team":eek

My son played soccer for about 12 years.
My daughter played on the high school soccer team her senior year.
I coached soccer almost the whole time my son played.
I enjoy soccer.
Size is not as important in soccer as American Football. Soccer is great for little kids.

My daughters both played starting at a young age. One continued it thru high school. She got screwed by the coach her senior year and probably cost her a decent shot at scholarships. Anyway ask away if there are any questions.

I hated soccer until the oldest daughter started. But got to be quite a fan once she played. Up north it can get pretty cold at times. You live to the south and heat probably is an issue. When it is really hot throw a bunch of small towels into a cooler loaded with ice. It is pretty refreshing. If anybody is where it gets cold the best thing we found was to get a sleeping bag.

The one thing good about soccer is that the games do not take forever.

Could be worse, she could want to try hockey, much more expensive to try it out. Soccer/football(english) isn't so pricey if I recall.

We plan on letting Amara try out a bunch of activities, like for a month/season then letting her pick which one to commit to.

As far as suggestions, reading up on it so boring... so I'd get friendly with one of the Mothers of a player and ask questions during practice. Even the coach, things to do at home to help practice and such.

what you should realise wifey is that our game can be played by anyone, you dont need a team of 7 foot meat heads with 15 brain cells between them,in fact a quick brain is a bonus....in fact the american womens team is one of the strongest in the world so the coaching infrastructures there if she developes a talent for the game...and you might just enjoy it too once you get the basics of the rules

If this is a city recreational league they will keep it short for the young kids. They also use a smaller field and adjust field sizes as the kids grow. When I was coaching we practiced twice a week for just over an hour each and games were around one hour when the kids were little. Time keeping was not a big deal with the younger kids. Time was kept when they were teenagers.

games are divided into halfs

young kids I think have 20 minute halfs with about a 10 minute half time as I recall.

by the time they get to varisty in high school it is 45 minute halfs.

It is not confusing. the only thing that takes a little getting used to is the offside rule. your teammate being passed to can not be beyond the opponents last player at the time of the pass. once the ball is kicked then it does not matter.

now if you want confusing. try girls Lacrosse :D
I coached it for 2 years and never did catch on to all the nuances.

When it is hot here they would break it into quarters to keep everyone hydrated. Half time was always orange slices & drinks for the kids.
