Orange Beach is East of Gulf Shores. My suggestion is to get there and get familiar with the area. Get involved with a church or other social group to find a fishin' buddy.

he's a rotarian so i'm sure they'll have no problem.

That is between 3.5 & 4 hours from where I live so I am only familiar with there from visiting on vacation. There is a lot of brackish water available there to catch fresh & saltwater fish. Saltwater fishing being the predominant fishing there. Just north of there he might find some opportunities near Foley.
