I discovered that in this hanging basket.........

The offspring of one of these types of birds are growing...

If you look hard you can see a small part of the chick. There are four in there and when I arrived with my camera the mother yelled out that danger was in the area. They became very still and wouldn't pop their heads up. I will do my best to meet the challenge and try to get some better shots. If I do I'll post 'em.

Just a little note. When the nest is approached the mother will land on the ground and pretend to have an injured wing. It's meant to draw attention away from the nest as is quite interesting to watch. She did that for a few minutes and then started to buzz me. At that point I decided not to bug them any more and I walked away. I'm going back though. :D

Out by me.... Killdeer will do the very same thing when you approach their young. Only they build their nests on the ground and even on the sides of the roads here. They have a very shrill pitched cry too.

That's a beautiful hanging basket BTW.

This is what they look like today which is 4 days after the first series. It doesn't take them long to get bigger and it is only a matter of a few days before they are gone. There are still 4 in that tiny nest. Believe it or not two ore under the ones you see.

Unfortunately the shot isn't as sharp as I would have liked but such is life when you try and get any sort of wildlife.

Yes I was. I like anything that has to do with nature especially if it has a beating heart.

Update.... all 4 chicks have left the nest. Both parents are keeping a close eye on the little guys that for the life of me can't see. I watch the parents finding food, then calling for the chicks and when they get an answer or signal of some sort they fly in that direction.
