The 6th one looks like Windows XP desktop.

I like all of the others. I really like the two sunrise or sunset pics although they don't give a lot of landscape detail.
Until you mentioned it and then later SB, I hadn't thought of XP's grassy wallpaper but do see what you mean

Thanks - those two sunset ones were taken in the Peak District. I remember being slightly miffed as I journeyed down from the second pic (near a country pub) to the first - the sun turned into a brilliant orange/red and looked stunning. By the time I got to the little boats/water scene it had just set. Maybe it's for the best but I did wonder how #2 may have turned out with it
i love the first three
but a really difficult decision I agree
Noted on your likes - thank you! And aye, difficult for sure.
right then.....my opinion, others might have differing thoughts......all have they're merits but no 7 stands out to me,you have a road leading off at an angle which is good..the cloud is broken and not too bright.....its just a pity that the house isn't a little more to the right though.....now with something like this you need to enter something that stands out,i'm guessing that if theres going to be alot of entries there might be alot of sunsets etc.....look at it like that before you decide
With the house being a bit more to the right, are you thinking along rule of thirds lines? You're right though with regards to sunset pics - it's hard to be objective about something like that of course when you've taken the pic so this kind of input is very much appreciated - thanks! That one is one of my favourites but I wasn't sure whether the picturesque country scene had enough in it of interest.
Wow! They're all pretty!
It's cool, the Sun in #6 is shaped like a Star!
The clouds in 1 & 2 are really cool.
Loving the trees & darker clouds in 3
4 & 5 have great color.
7 is quite picturesque..
That's a tough choice.
Can't pressgang you to pick one if you had to choose?

Thank you for the kind comments though
They're all great! - I'd go with #2 if I had to choose.
Thanks! I do like aspects of all of these pics but things like Guy suggested with the beach pics and Ian with the sunset pics certainly give me food for thought.
1st id instantly dismiss ur sunset. pretty as they are.. EVERY1 wil submit 1
*nods and takes note* Two comments now on the sunset ones in that respect can't be a co-incidence
7 lead ur eye off the page where as 6 ur eye follows the wall then over the mountain to the right..
I'm assuming then that you prefer six over seven? thanks
2 is great has a brilliant moody sky
I was most fortunate with the clouds in the first three for sure. Had there been nary a cloud in the sky those pics would be very ordinary methinks.
If I had to pick one I would choose the last. I wouldn't change a thing except try and darken the bright white areas of the clouds and try and get the blue a bit darker shade as well. That one would be a great candidate for HDR imo. The second last one to me lacks something to draw my attention in.
No offense and even though I like them a beach with rolling waves and rocks are a dime a dozen. That said, if I had to pick a beach scene it would be the third one cuz it kinda pops in a way the others don't. It needs a lighthouse or something though.
The sunsets are out for a few reasons.
- a tad on the darkish side
- they are missing something... maybe more detail would help
- I hate jet contrails in a picture unless there's a jet in front of it.
A touch too bright on the clouds eh - will look into that if I end up using that one

Valuable input indeed and no offence taken - your kind of input is very useful too for helping me to determine types of pics that may be too common such as the beach ones you mentions and Ian with the sunset ones. Different reasons of course from yourself as to reasons for not counting the sunset ones but fair points also.
Thank you!
Thanks ma'am
5 is really nice, but i cant vote for 6 cuz like looks like the windows xp default background... seen that TOO many times :willy_nilly::24:
:24: Thanks! As per Fred eh on the XP thing

I really hadn't noticed until you two mentioned it
This has been very useful input all so far. I was going to perhaps pick one today and submit but I shall wait I think. I believe tomorrow the first pics might be posted on the company intranet so I might see I guess what I'm up against. Acknowledged that if I do use a type of shot that is a dime a dozen as guy mentioned (say that or beaches) then it would have to be quite spectacular indeed.
Pics are due in sometime next week at the latest so I'll hang on a touch and have a look what I'm up against if some do get posted.
