The detail on the bluebell closest to the camera and the butterfly wings are awesome.

i got the detail but its the overall composition that i'm not sure about.......next time i'll try and include the arc on the plant and not get the blurred flowers at the bottom...and if you look closely theres a tiny spider on one of the flowers

Good shot Ian.

If you're looking for a bit more detail on the butterfly try shooting it more broadside. Try and get the entire body / wings to fill up the frame. Unless the bells are the same distance away as the insect your going to have a tough time to get focused on both. Just my 2 cents and definitely not a critique.

You could also try cropping it to get rid of some of the crud.

I actually liked it more before that kind of crop, the kind of fix I am saying is taking it differently next time, if you crop it in closer, it isn't going to generate any more detalils--and that crop is making the picture to simple, and kind of... I dunno small or it just doesn't look right.

What I liked about the original photo was that it kind of frames the butterfly in between the flowers, the stem, and the slightly blurrer flowers, a completely green background would just be... unnaturul looking. I always say, you gotta make things look realistic, but unbelievable, anything else is too much.

And that's your right.

the kind of fix I am saying is taking it differently next time, if you crop it in closer, it isn't going to generate any more detalils--

Well that's because of the size of the crop. I could have done it larger and tighter but not having the original shot it would loose some quality. Matter of fact a person could make it so you could count the individual hairs.

and that crop is making the picture to simple, and kind of... I dunno small or it just doesn't look right.

The unfocused stuff is what makes a picture look distracting. imo it's the butterfly and whatever clear flowers that interest me. Shot at a different angle and cropped right it could be a beautiful shot. It is nice the way it is though.

What I liked about the original photo was that it kind of frames the butterfly in between the flowers, the stem, and the slightly blurrer flowers,

We actually agree on something, sort of. imo there is just too much as you put it " slightly blurrer flowers." It's very distracting.

a completely green background would just be... unnaturul looking.

That's why I left the focused flowers in.

u gotta make things look realistic, but unbelievable, anything else is too much.

That's why I didn't add any cars, airplanes, cows or sheep. I wanted to keep it realistic.

Once again, to each his / her own.
