I don't know if this topics was raised here. If it was sorry for the double post.

An angel is said to be a celestial attendant of God. One who performs a mission of God or acts as if sent by God. In the bible we have seen accounts of them, and we hear people speak of them as testimonies.

Are angels real? Do you believe if you made a narrow escape from death it is an angel who rescued you or is it some stroke of luck?

What are your views on this topic?

I know we have everyday heroes Springteen. But what about the attendant, the spiritual being that of a guardian spirit?

I was watching the history channel and their was this program that was featured about "Angels". I heard the a testimony of a man, who say he met in an accident and was in a coma for some weeks i guess. He goes on to say that his spirit left his body, and he was in this, um.. don't remember what they call it. but it is like a tunnel but seems like you are surrounded by energy or something of that nature. Anyway, he said while he was going through that tunnel, he felt something chewing at his feet and body and he was crying out in agony. then he heard a voice saying, "call on Jesus"... After hearing the voice a few times he cried out, "save me Jesus" a couple of times, and a bright light came out of nowhere and saved him. After the light appeared the things that was chewing his spirit away vanished. He woke up after that, and is now a minister.

That is a view I am sympathetic to. However, the devil is in the details, details a significant % of the populace seems to think they know exactly what happens, exactly who watches over them, and an exact list of rules that if not followed results in eternal damnation. That's were I step back and say hold your horses Bucko. ;) And I have no reason to believe there are the traditional definition of angels floating about. While I might wish it to be true, I need more than a wish to commit.

Allah (God) is the Creator of all the universes, He created without help from anyone and He most certainly does not need Angels to do tasks for Him. Allah appointed the angels for different duties not because He needs them, but because our nature can not tolerate seeing Him, that's why He sends angels to the prophets or to us. Angels are referred to as messengers in the Quran. None of them can do anything without a command from Allah. Take an emperor for example, does he himself send messages to whomever he wants or does he send a messenger bearing his messages?

so you are saying Allah is limited by his true nature.
 
Allah can show His true self to us but we wouldn't be able to see Him, our eyesight can't reach Him. Allah cannot be limited to sight and is unseen in this world. The Prophet Moses asked to see Allah. Allah told the prophet Moses to look at a mountain in front of him, so he looked at it and Allah revealed a bit of Himself to the mountain and the mountain crumbled. He's so powerful beyond anything else, we'd perish if we saw Him. It's impossible for mankind to see Allah.

And when Moses came at the time set by Us, and his Sustainer spoke unto him, he said: "O my Sustainer! Show [Thyself] unto me so that I might behold Thee!
Said [God]: "never canst thou see Me. However behold this mountain: if it remains firm in it's place, then - only then - will thou see me"
And as soon as his Sustainer revealed His glory to the mountain, He caused it to crumble to dust; and Moses fell down in a swoon. And when he came to himself, he said: "Limitless art Thou in They glory! Unto Thee do I turn in repentance; and I Shall always be the first to believe in Thee!" (7: 143) Holy Quran.
 
I have seen an angel.

I was living with my aunt and uncle. I was just a new believer in the bible. So I prayed to God, before I went to bed, "what must I do to get to into heaven?'. I slept a fitful sleep with the most vivid dream I have ever had. In the dream I was given a choice to walk through a door, following the crowd of people that were doing bad things or leave (theres more to the dream but it would take too long). I woke up at that point, I lit a smoke and laid there thinking about this dream and what it meant. I butted my smoke and then heard noises from the kitchen, which was on the other side of the wall from the couch I was sleeping on. The doorway to the kitchen was at the foot end, and I heard the noises more. I sat up on my elbow to try and hear the sound better, and it was the sounds of chains rattling, like clinking together. I thought I should go see what is making that noise, and then a bright white flash came into the room and it moved quickly beside me on the couch. It was so bright I could not see, and of course I was scared stiff. I felt the presence beside me, blinding white, standing beside me. All I could do was shake with fear, then I prayed for Jesus to save me. And it vanished. I was so afraid after that I yelled for my aunt to come sit with me.

I know now the meaning of the dream and reason for the angel. It's part of the reason I believe in God.
 
As for personal angel stories that I heard, I know that my aunt testifies on saying that she would've lost her arm and life if she didn't feel something hold her arm to her body when she was about to point to traffic when a huge semi went by, the semi would have clipped her arm.

Also my great grandpa and grandpa went through the same thing on seeing spirits just before they died
