How old is the Earth?

lol, well dont know if your serious about the age of the earth answer....so i was going to ask you a series of questions ......and.....oh never mind

smartass:clap:thumbup

I'm sorry. I really wasn't trying to be a smart ass. I honestly don't know these things in all seriousness. And I do blame it on my poor education.

I don't know history either unless I learned it in college.

so please - go on to what you were going to ask.

pretty please... :)

You know there are scientists that believe in creation. There is a movie about it from Ben Stein called Expelled. The main problem with science is there is much of it that is not exact. One minute you can't eat eggs, the next you should eat eggs. One second you can't have salt, then you should have salt. One minute the earth is 3 billion years old, then its 5. There are no black holes, there are black holes, you can't travel faster than light, well maybe you can. It's this theory business that gives science its bad name in terms of credibility. While for creationists its the over-the-top, our-way-or-the-highway religious fanatics that make people doubt. Either way, its a personal choice because it comes down to who you believe.

For me I go with creation and 6,000 years. Too many weird things poke holes in the whole carbon dating and layered geology stuff.

The dirt you stand on is [generally] older than what you go with.

Yeah, you're right....you also believe in Santa, Tooth Fairly, Easter rabbit, et al...??

No, some people believe what they are told, others go out and find the answers for themselves.

I am the latter. I believe what I can verify, through scientific theory. Which is to say, come up with a hypothesis, and test it. If it can be tested true, then it is. Example, Gravity. There are many things in terms of dating of the earth that are not "exact" science. Read up on it, find out how they date the earth, where do they come up with these figures.

A good example was the dating of one of the frozen Mammoth's from Siberia. I think it was called the ice cave mammoth. Anyway, after sampling different sections of the animal, they dated each one at a different period. I think it was like 3 or 4 samples. They 'chose' the one that fit their criteria and called the other tests contaminated.

Anyway, my opinion. :)

So.. how did you verify creation?

I agree, Tuffdisc. What difference does it make, except to prove that the Earth has gone through thousands and thousands of CLIMATE CHANGES before they had words to call it "MANMADE GLOBAL WARMING" and that the whole climate change debate is one big propoganda smokescreen to distract us from our country being hijacked by Socialists.

Whew. I feel better.

If anyone would know, you would cat!

So.. how did you verify creation?

Well, I can't verify creation per se. But I can verify the reliability of the Bible, which tells me how the earth was created. And in my opinion, facts that supposedly tell us the age of the earth are not "proven" as much as they are "generally accepted by some". Which means not all scientist, even non Christian ones, don't believe the timeline.

For example, global flooding is just as much a reasonable explanation to mass extinction of species as is the meteor hitting the earth and causing an ice age. Some scientist argue that millions of years of erosion and tectonic shifts caused the earth to look like it does, others say it was the flood. This debate rages on still, with many hypothesis being heaved up and taken down. Such as the 6 inches or over 100 feet of dust that should or should not have been on the moon.

Either way, its my opinion that the Bible is correct, and the earth was created. Very good question by the way.
