If you recall, I posted a thread about the 1990 Zodiac Killer card, which is confirmed as the Zodiac's card. Well, Tom Voight, the owner of Zodiac Killer | The Zodiac Movie | Zodiac Murders | California Serial Murder, recently made some discoveries about a possible suspect responsible for not only the 1990 card, but a suspect for the case of the Zodiac Killer. Here's the news.

April 02, 2007(Posted in Tom's Myspace blog)

For those of you unfamiliar with the recently-discovered 1990 Eureka card, I urge you to get caught up with this fascinating development in the Zodiac case.

The card lead me directly to "Sam," a person I now find even more compelling as a Zodiac suspect than even Arthur Leigh Allen.

See this link for details: http://www.zodiackiller.com/Newscenter.html

Without revealing too much about his true identity, here are a few tidbits about Sam:

1) His father was a police detective

2) His mother was heavily into Mikado-style operas

3) "Sam" was born, lived and worked within less than a half mile from the San Francisco murder scene

4) "Sam" has lived on streets that match the names of all of Zodiac's known crime scene locations

5) "Sam" served aboard ship

6) "Sam" was going through turmoil during the time of Zodiac's crimes. Sam's turmoil ended in mid-1971

7) In early 1974, the turmoil briefly started again with "Sam"

8) Compared to his father and brother, "Sam" was an under achiever

9) "Sam's" signature contains a few Zodiac-like characteristics, despite the fact it is written in cursive

10) When I spoke to him over the phone (using a ruse), "Sam" steered the discussion toward the subject of death on several occasions. He actually laughed when describing the way one of his wives died

11) During the conversation, "Sam" used a rather unique Zodiac phrase
Unfortunately I must leave out the really good stuff, as I don't want a barrage of Internet sleuths knocking down the door of a man who is presumed innocent. (And no, those eleven points of interest don't make the entire case against Sam.)

At this point, my plan is to find a way back to Northern California in order to gather more materials on Sam...especially handwriting. And of course to arrange a face-to-face interview.

I don't often get excited about a suspect. That has changed.

Many of these facts that he revealed closely match up to the Zodiac's time line, and match his characteristics. The military boot prints and the history of being in the Navy, and having a gun. The street names, turmoil periods, etc.

Sadly, last night, it was announced that "Sam" was not a match to the Zodiac's DNA.

Late last night I got the word. The DNA from the suspect I dubbed "Sam" was finally compared to the DNA thought to belong to the Zodiac killer. There was no match.

Sigh.

Ok, who is next? Zodiac's gotta be out there somewhere.

I'm hoping we'll see a confirmed identity within the next year. But it's been almost 40 years now, and we haven't had one.
