legends in your life time
coventry city...in no particular order(theres more but i whittled it down to 10)
1...jimmy hill......the man who masterminded the clubs rise from the old division 4 to the old division 1 in the late 50's/60's.......a place where we stayed for over 30 years, becoming founder members of the english premier league during that time
2....george curtis.....aptly named 'iron man'.....he was as solid as a rock at the heart of the defence.....later becoming joint manager with john sillett, leading the club to F.A.Cup glory in 1987
3.....john sillett......fullback who played for the club who was knicknamed 'snoz' because of his nose......managed the club with george curtis
4....brian kilcline.....giant of a man at the back who earned the tag 'killer'.......with his huge stature, long hair and long beard he looked like a viking.....was a no nonsense center half with a fierce shot
5....mick ferguson/ian wallace......2 here i know but they were the traditional british little and large double act......for 3 seasons they scored around 40 goals between them
6....tommy hutchison.....a scottish right winger in the traditional sense.....often supplied the ammunition for ferguson and wallace......had skill in abundance but never recieved deserved recognition at international level
7......david buust.....not a legend in the traditional sense but i chose him anyway.......the club picked him up from non league football,he soon earned a regular place in the first team, his career was cut tragically short when he shattered his leg trying to score at old trafford.....he was instantly unconscious, but his first words when he woke were 'did i score?'
8....dion dublin.....a center forward the club picked up from manchester united,he made an instant impact by scoring on his debut.....he proved invaluable by being able to play up front or at the back.....he left under a cloud by joining fierce rivals aston villa
9....steve ogrizovic.....giant keeper called oggie......ever reliable and rarely let the team down, was much loved by the fans because of his loyaly...still coaches at the club
10.....the fans....we've been there through good times and bad,we support the team no matter what
we were 5 - 0 down away from home
