Forums like this go up and go down, seems to me that as long as the bills are being paid, we'll just wait for the next up swing.

It has been slow lately but a lot of that is from folks enjoying summer breaks and doing outside things. I have been busy myself around the farm. Neighbor is cutting hay as I type and I will be busy raking and baling the next few days.

Isnt anything you need to change V....Participation is low because lack of participation itself..its a self compounding problem...with fewer posts there are fewer to respond to.
Just have to wait it out until the next wave hits...when activity picks up..it will cause a further increase in activity as there will be more to respond to.

There is always the old trick of creating profiles{members}...{hot chicks are a bonus as guys dig em...and we get to watch cat fights}

My time has dropped off due to work and family, but I'd like to see this place stick around.

If you decide to give it another year, let me know the address and I'll mail a check for (hate pay pal and their "new" credit company) to help defer costs.

Now, my last forum, I mailed them $100 and a week later I got banned!!

I think that as long as this forum remains, myself and some others will continue to drop in when we can. Some more than others of course.

It's been slow a lot longer than that. I don't think you can blame summer for this one. I think it's more what The Man said...participation is low because there aren't as many people posting. It's a vicious cycle. I still check in here but the frequency has slowly become less. Why? Because most of the people that I interacted with here do not post anymore. As much as I enjoy talking to myself, I still like having the fun conversations with my friends.

How to make it better? I think it needs to start at the top. In the past year I haven't seen very much effort from Admin or the mods to make this a fun forum again. They're just kind of there and not posting much, just like the rest of us. The people who run this forum need to start running it again. :nod:

I've made friends on here and I know for sure that if this forum is shut down I would lose those friends. And I don't want that. Even though it's slow now it will pick up again. I know that I would miss all of you terribly if this forum was shut down.

I've never been one to consider people as just 'internet people'. I realise a lot do and don't really think about the folk that may be behind the words.

It is purely down to forums that I've been able to meet all great people I have in Canada and the United States of America. Hopefully I'll meet a few more before my time here in the U.S. of A. is done.

I have to say. I agree with Zirc. The mods need to run this place. The admins need to do the same. I think when the kids and admins stopped running the show and members took over. That is when the place went down hill. That is when the place cleared out. Some people were getting preferential treatment, even though no one will admit to it. But it happened, and the place suffered because of it.


I would love to see this place come back to life. But I am having my doubts that it is going to happen.

Not sure what anyone is expecting from the moderators. I have made a ton of posts that only received 1 or 2 or no responses. Only thing I have done lately is keep spammers from cluttering the board.

IDK, but it appears to me it's already starting to happen.
I had no idea this forum even existed until Citygirl and another person told me about it.
So I joined and just watched the forum for a while before posting.
Back then it seemed really active.
Right now I don't see even half the names of those who were around back then, but as word spreads, perhaps it'll pick up even more for old members returning and new ones joining.
A forum can't survive with just two or three threads being used for traffic.
I'll be around from time to time, for what it's worth.

1. Cliques - I feel like the "reserved areas and VIP sections" are a big drawback to this place - People join groups, or get access to certain sections of the forum and never really bother to check the rest of the activity on the regular forum... Its almost like a highschool cafeteria where only certain kids are allowed in certain tables and thus the rest are just not cool to interact with.

2. Management - Not directly related to the administration nor the management team but to put it in a simple manner: There are too many mods - Too many chiefs (mods) and honestly not that many indians (active users)

3. Contests and events usually end up with the same small group of people participating and little if any incentive for common member base participation - Valentine's day contest

I say let the place run - if you simply cannot handle it financially and it has become a burden then the desicion is up to you and not the users.

The more of us that make an effort to try to post a bit more, the more chance it has of reviving again. I'll keep doing my little bit from time to time here and there

I never felt the sections were a drawback but certainly all forums do certain things well. I'm not saying OTz should be a jack of all trades but we can certainly teach this old dog new tricks from other places

I just seem not to have anything to say new or the posts that have been made I have nothing to add to.. It's like my brain is in a creative funk too..

As for VIP areas and such here.. they are pretty dead too.. It's not like all the activity that is here is behind the scenes.

I have been trying to post more but I really don't know what to post about..

I remember when I started here I was pregnant with Liam and there was so much to reply to and it was constantly going.. I spent a lot of time here because I was pretty much on bedrest..

5 years later I come online for different reasons. I come onilne for some mindless games.. catch up with a couple friends on skype.. and then I end up going to sleep.
