Here's an American Atheist billboard.

I don't know what they're hoping to accomplish with this billboard. It's offensive. First, religious people do not know they're all scams. If they did then they wouldn't be religious. And second, they're not all scams. No doubt there are some con artists in religion. But most Christians, Muslims, etc. are good sincere people.

I'm proud to be an atheist but I'm embarrassed by billboards like these. Not only are the graphics cheesy, the message is offensive.

Is it more offensive than the billboards that proclaim God is watching you and you must repent or burn in hell?

Personally, THAT offends me.

I totally agree with you. You find more people pushing their religion on people that don't believe then people pushing others to believe he doesn't. Why are they going door to door telling people how wonderful their religion is. I'm sure if we really want to know we would come to you. I'm not going to go door to door telling people that god isn't real because thats your own choice. Believe whatever you want, it's your given right.

They all make me roll my eyes. Pro and anti. The hypocrisy annoys me, and I'm more of the figure-it-out-for-yourself mindset.

I agree 100%! One's fate should be his personal matter and I doubt knocking on someones door and attempting to convert him has any real chance of success. I believe its quite the opposite really, you may daunt someone with annoying him too much. In other words a person needs to find god (or find out there is no god) on their own, not the opposite.

The Southeast Regional Atheists better wear bullet-proof vests for their meet! It seems they're taunting religious people by offending them first, then informing them when and where to find them.

I think it's a big mistake for atheists to meet up like this. It makes atheism seem like a belief system, when it is simply the absence of belief.

I don't think it's any more inflammatory than some of the religious posters I've seen over the years.

Eggzactly

I never have had an atheist knock on my door to spread their views.

Can not say the same for the bible thumpers though

Atheism is turning into a belief system. They have meetings like church, billboards promoting their beliefs and urging others to convert to their views... next is pamplets and knocking on doors lol.

I can see the point when it comes to specific issues, like promoting science, for example, but I really don't think anyone should need to promote atheism.

Religious nuts are definitely more offensive than the billboard. I'm free to believe in whatever I want. If you're selling, I'm probably not buying. Go knock on someone else's door.

I agree, but they are promoting. Maybe it's just human nature to want to be immersed by like-minded people and save others because they feel their views are right.

Atheism isnt turning in to a belief system it always has been. People believe it so it has to be a belief. It's just more open now. I highly doubt that they will be knocking on people's door though.

no it's the absence of belief. You don't believe in atheism, it's simply a description of what you are.
