Ian I dragged the tripod out just for you. :) All of these were done with the manual focus method and being the zippy little buggers that they are it's hard to get 'em as you would say spot on. :D

very nice! and on manual?!! damn son you got skillz.

again, what if you used a deeper depth of field - wouldn't that make your focus field broader and help you get more details especially if you are using manual?

although I guess if you close it too much, your shutter speed would be too slow to get them in details....????

Thanks Fifi. I'm glad you had a look considering you still have that antiquated connection. ;)

I don't mind a slow connection.... Oh wait..... I was thinking about something else........ :ninja

..... but yes.... It didn't take too long to load and I did ever so enjoy it when it finally.....

What are we talking about? ;)

Na... just lucky.

No I doubt it would help. What I really need is an awesome assortment of about 4 flash units to light the bird up. That would make it pop.

I shot these at f8.0, 1/1000 sec @ ISO 800 and even at that it's much too slow. It should be closer to the 1/2000 mark but with the lens I have and the amount of available sunlight I would have to push the ISO up to around 1600 and the result would be a hell of a lot of noise. I hate noise.

the 3rd one really works for me......nice and sharp but with a little blur in the wings for that sense of movement

I like the shots Guy. Very nice. If only you could overcome your hatred of noise. :) I don't mind a degree of noise - it adds something (nice) sometimes to a picture. Obviously, if I shot something at 6400 on my camera with bad light - that would be far too much noise.

Are you the type of person who zooms into a picture to look for noise or other 'issues' ?

It' more like fear of noise. I just like my stuff to look clear and noise gets in the way.

Um............................. I have been know to do that a time or two. ;)

Ok so here's the deal. This is another shot that I took at the same time as the three I posted here. I didn't upload it because of the noise. In my minds eye the more noise a shot has the less clear it is. It's also more out of focus than the others. I can only focus so fast you know.
