XP Battery

Hello, I just installed XP on my laptop and I'm a bit confused about the battery pre-sets. VistAIDS was just balanced, performance, and battery. XP has home/office, portable/laptop, presentation, always on, minimal power, and max battery. I just need to know what gives the best battery life and what gives the best performance. Thanks.

I think all those presets do is set times like if you choose max battery it will turn the screen off sooner if you're not using it. The only difference between all of them is times for the computer screen, hard drive, standby, hibernate.

I'm not sure though, cause I've got it on max battery now and it's slow as hell but I've only used a very small fraction of the battery. But I think you're right on the rest of them, I tried a few and there really wasn't a performance difference and I didn't leave it alone long enough to see if it went to sleep/hibernate/screen and what not.
