The 4 X-Men movies have been outstanding, but I've been a little annoyed that the movies have almost completely trashed the comic version's time line and relationships. A new X-Men movie is due out this Summer called X-Men: First Class, that explores the early years of Charles Xavier and Eric Lehnsherr's friendship and their schism.

As someone who has read the comics starting from the 1960's up through 1981. (still working my way through the comics) there is absolutely no indication that The Professor and Magneto were ever friends. Have there been later issues that delve into the Professor and Magnetos's childhoods establishing a basis for friendship at any point in their lives?

Thanks!

In my own opinion...

...I have not really been behind all the superhero movies coming out these days. It never seems to follow the comics, the script is of something that never happened in the comics, and the people playing certain characters is often way off base. That is just my own thoughts on it though.

I'm not a big fan of comics, I'm definitely more of a cinema girl. I do appreciate keeping things canon though.

They've always been depicted as having some sort of friendship in the animated series.

I do agree even from a guy thats only really gotten into the cartoon, i tend to read up on things online outr of boredom and they have pretty much trashed the canon. But don't they do that with every superhero movie?

Basically. Though I did enjoy the Superman Movies when Christopher Reeves was in it. The only thing that disappointed me was that he did not take on more villains like Nuclear Man. That was just me though.

As far as the movies are concerned. I can see them being able to take their own depiction of the X-Men for a couple reasons. One, the history of the X-Men is so vast, it would take aloooooooooot of movies to capture it all in the time line the comic has presented. I mean aloooot. I'm talkin Hugh wouldnt be alive for the end of that series! lol

Also there is the factor of how the stories of the characters would change slightly and sometimes dramatically depending on what writer wrote which series. For instance, The Spectacular Spiderman and The Amazing Spiderman. Both series by different writers and each with their own take. So I can see where it is somewhat valid the way the movies are different.

My opinion however is completely different. lol I like things to stay true to the original. Wolverine doenst look like Wolverine. Sorry Hugh, but you need to get bigger, walk with a hunch and fight WAY more vicious. You're filling the shoes of a mutant that once, while stranded in the ocean, devoured his own bicep for nurishment. Act like it.

Sabre tooth was a joke. They turned him into a pussy. This is a guy that would track down Wolverine and damn near kill him every year on his birthday, just to remind him that he could. Give that character some credit. Also Sabre Tooth was big and he wasnt stupid. The guy is rich. He used his extended life span to his advantage as far as money is concerned and in no way would he be magnetos little bitch boy.

Magneto! That feeble old man? Gimme a break! http://screencrave.frsucrave.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/04/magneto1.jpg Magmotherfuckinneto!

I could go on all day but you catch my drift.

X-Men origins effed up too. The way they depicted deadpool. Deadpool was not that. He was the assassin with a mouth. He was Marvels comic relief. A joke. Never meant to be some supermutant gene splice project they made him out to be. Bullllllshiiiiiiit.
