Hi,

I am new here and I have been looking for somewhere to air my thoughts. Hope I have come to the right place.

My question is: Does anyone like their work?

The reason I ask is because my current job is stressing me out. Not just in the comic sense of the word either. It seriously make me ill at times. The job should be something I enjoy as it is what I have trained to do and have loved doing in my spare time. Its just that it seems to be obstructed by office politics and red tape. No-one really wants to get the job done and there is never-ending back-stabbing. The job which should be ideal and fun for me then becomes a drag, a never-ending stream of paperwork and negative thoughts.

Any thoughts?

i can completely understand where you are coming from. i like my job but it is so stressful. and i know what you mean by never ending backstabbing. all people do is complain about others not doing their jobs. if they spent half the time doing the stuff they are supposed to be doing as they do complaining about it, everything would get done. i complain about the shifts before me too but i get my stuff done. and no silentbob and cybercooky34, im not implying you guys.

Too much to ask for :D

No matter how fun it is, if it's work there's gonna be stress. Deadlines, coworkers, bosses, and all that stuff. Even fun stuff can be annoying when you add all of that to it.

Another good point. Deadlines and such I don't mind. Its the people who constantly strive to stab people in the back or pass the buck that does my head in.

the grass isnt greener my love ,they pay you for it because its called work .if it was great wed all do it for nothing...and right now from where i stand ,id quite like a job where others take all the responsibility and worry

I do love what I do, but there is red tape and beaurocracy in practically any job you are at.

I moved into a position that although has tremendous perks, and much better pay, is not without pitfalls.

Simply put, do what you can do to the best of your abilities, and go to sleep knowing you did such. The feeling of accomplishment is my best reward.

I put a lot more stock in the job I do as a person than as an employee anyhow. My job is simply what I do, it has never been who I am. :)

Sounds like every job I ever had. Now I care for my missus. I get unfairly stereotyped as a sponger off the government for it but it's the most satisfying job I've ever had because I can see first hand that I'm making a difference to someones life and it's someone I care more than anyone about!

Thats just it. No-one here takes responsibility. Not even the managers. I also don't stop hating it just because I go home. I understand where you coming from but just because your situation may be worse then mine it does not mean mine is trivial. I also have to ask. Why do you do it then? If its so bad? Perhaps its the same reason I stay here. Money? Also, bills still exist so no-one could work for nothing.

i don't always stop hating my job when i go home but i have learned that to keep my sanity, i have to keep work problems at work and home problems at home. i still sometimes hate it but at the same time i love what i do. and money doesn't keep me there. i don't have to work if i don't want to but i do because i try to support myself without my families money

Anyone who would refer to you as a sponger is obviously and uncaring idiot. I agree with you and think your amazing for doing what you are doing. :clap

I was fortunate to get into something I love to do. I like my work but don't like the extraordinarily tight deadlines that go with it and often think they can be avoided were it not for spoiled clients and bad planning. *include more rants here*. Once I am in my zen I love doing my thing. That however is often often replaced with said rants. It's a bitter-sweet sort of a thing.

Altho I love my job I also love to see the back of the door having made a 100 metre dash for it on evenings and especially Fridays.

Hey there, i'm a newbie here too and i came here so i can vent out my thoughts and feelings and to see if anyone else feels the same...anyways, i'm pretty stressed out w/ my job and i don't exactly love it either, if i had a choice where i didn't have to go to school and spend $ for it, i'd be a chef or i'd own a restaurant or club...but i'm in the healthcare field and in school currently for my RN, i don't hate the healthcare industry but its not exactly fun or easy....but it's where the $ is i guess, so i guess for now i'll stick to watching the Food Network channel and pretending i'm Giada or something...

I'm still in college, so I work at a food place for the time being, it comes with both bad and good things...the pay sucks, but I don't mind the people.

I can't stand when it gets in the way of my life though.
