How many days off are you allowed to take for holiday allowance? In the UK the average is 20 to 25 days which is about 1 month per year. I think the USA has less annual leave but more public holidays. Are you only given 14 days paid leave?

Well I get three weeks of vacation time and I get certain holidays off. That is about all my workplace will allow us. They don't really like to give us all the official holidays off. Just a few to keep us satisfied. Other places give their employees all the official holidays off. Especially the government jobs.

Being self-employed means I juggle my off days to those of my clients. I have not taken a week of vacation in years.

In our country, there are different rules in governmental agencies and private organizations. In private organizations you get 12 days of paid leave and in government agencies, you get 20 days of paid leave.
