what are you doing? and what are you using?

I am trying to get some songs from my external hard drive to my iPod. All 4 GB worked except 30 songs. No big deal except they are some of my favorite 30 that I never listen to because I have never been able to figure out how to do this.

So I have them copied onto my desktop and I am using the iPod program thing and Windows Media Player.

I dont know what to do! :(

well you do realise that you cant use all the room on the drive....it has to have a type of buffer...unless ipods function differently...which i doubt if they do

unless of course they are in a WMA format...an apple device should still read them..but they may have to be switched to MP# format....again i dont own an i pod....i think they are over priced

yes I realize that

my issue is changing WMA protected files to MP3 format so I can put them on my iPod.

I have a fancy 8GB iPod so I am sure it can take 30 more songs. It's just this file format thing.

lol - yes - i was typing that as you put this.

how do I change WMA protected to MP3?

iPods are overpriced, and if you ever get one buy the insurance because then when it breaks you get the new one for the same price as the old one and its new and fancy and has more storage.

you should be able to convert it to an MP3 format with windows, right click on a WMA file and see what your options are

is there an option that says "convert",...if not try to copy them to another folder, and use the "save as" option..and select MP3

Windows Media has feature to copy media files to mp3 players like iPod. have you tried using windows media player to do that? syncing your ipod with it?

yes it wont accept protected wmas
and this is why DRM is stupid and unfair... stupid stupid stupid. did I mention stupid?

you can try downloading programs that remove drm protection from music files you legally own.

Honestly, if you paid for it, then you should be allowed to do as you will and play with any medium but they make it difficult to play it from anyting other than the windows media or itunes and if you lose the file you have to repurchase. Do you see why I still buy a CD? that way I got the original and I can make as many copies as I want if I happen to lose the file or something happens to my hard drive.

yeah the irony is I actually have the CDs to these few songs, but they're at my mom's in storage since I had ripped them onto my hard drive

SO I just got my roommate to illegally download them for me...even though I legally own them.

Irony!
