do a system restore to a date when it worked and see if that fixes it. Start Menu/Programs/Acessories/System Tools/System Restore

If that dont work, run scandisk on yer c drive. Check option to locate problems and option to try and fix them.

before you do all that, check to see if your roomies conection is working. If they both died, it's possible that there was a change to your neighbors side.

Just do the system restore back to a date where it was working. Everything would be safe. That would be the first step. if that don't work then you should consider drastic measures

i have windows Vista but im trying to remember this by memory for XP if thats what you have.

go to the control panel and go to internet and network connections.

click on the network connections. go to your connection and right click it and hit repair. and see if that fixes it.

System restore doesn't drastically change anything. It only reverts back to your computers settings as a previous date. I think you might be getting system restore with a new system install. Don't worry, you wont lose any files or anything like that. It's a very simple and fast process.
