So, have any of you had any experience with vista yet. I just started a new job on Friday doing service calls for businesses and individuals with computer problems. Well, it seems like 3/4 of my service calls have been vista related. I cant get this to work on vista, I cant print outa this program, my Internet connection dies when I open this program. The companies havent had a chance to work out all the vista bugs in there programs and it makes the programs not work properly on the system. I think I will hold off on geting it for at least a coupple more months.

I hate it. I've been on 3 customers computers simply trying to find the networking pages... they make it so goddamn hard to just put it right off the start menu like XP does.

Fuck Vista, I have to play with it more before I may start to like it.

It's got some cool features, and we are all going to have to use it eventually. Right now though, there are a lot of driver issues. Many of the games I play run terribly on it. I own a copy of Ultimate and will end up moving to it full time when Hellgate: London releases.

yea, one of the nice features I have found so far is the automatic KB search when a program crashes. Made my job a lot easier the other day.

I don't think Vista is better than XP.It must have more safety problems.

Thats because you must not know anything about computers. People always complain when something new comes out. 64 bit owns 32 bit. When people quit writing shitty software that crashes Windows, we'd all be in a better place.

Everyone thinks that Windows crashes more than Linux/Unix. What they fail to realize is that for every 1 good programmer on Linux/Unix, there are 100 shitty ones on Windows. Its not the OS that has problems, its the idiots that don't know what a memory leak is.

I can't wait for Surface to come out. Bad-ass. Oh, and for those of you bitching about fixing client computers...I guess you wouldn't have a job then?

I don't, I don't!!!! I've worked with Unix systems before that absolutely MUST be shut down properly (no hard shut downs), otherwise you're guaranteed an 8 hour reload...tons of fun, since this was in Iraq and power outages happen every few days...

I think this is absolutely the first time I have ever heard this. Wow.

Yeah, but it was a really specialized Unix system for downloading/processing weather images from DoD satellites...

We had it on an UPS, but the damn thing takes longer to shutdown than the UPS can last :)

You are definitely right there. I, for one, hate Unix. But I am also a Windows programmer.

Unix, to me, is so user-unfriendly. I'm sure if you know every possible command it wouldn't be so bad, but if you don't know what you're doing, you're screwed.

Ok, I got my new computer up and running for about a week now and have been messing around with the Vista Ultimate 64bit that I bought for it and it definately has its bugs but it really isnt so bad. It has got some pretty cool features. One thing that I really dont like about it is the fact that you have to go through a big stink to get non whql drivers installed on it. I mean seriously, it took me 4 tries to get vmware loaded on the damn thing and that install takes like 45 minutes alone.
