I love apple, but this is the first thing I thought of when it was released. On a side note, Mad TV isn't cancelled?

Amazing, Extraordinary, Tremendous: The 3-Minute iPad Keynote [VIDEO]
Steve Jobs is a great sweet talker - don't be deceived by him
The 180 second bite-sized version of the iPad announcement serves as a hilarious look at the abundant use of adjectives and superlatives during Jobs’s presentation. Don’t be surprised if you hear a lot of the following: Extraordinary. Phenomenal. Far better. Simple. Wonderful. Great. Gorgeous. Awesome. Super. Huge. Tremendous. Amazing. Terrific. Exciting. Beautiful.

Actually, I'm most likely going to get an iPad. Easier to carry than a laptop, and easier to read than my phone screen, particularly for viewing PDF's and spread sheets. I probably access my phone 5 times a day for information while on the phone with someone. I can actually see a use for this item.

The iPad, the iPhone just bigger. Waste of money. I'd rather have a laptop.

I have two laptops I use for work, and with the on hand activities I do for work out on the road and on commercial job sites, after seeing the size of the iPad, as mentioned, it seems like a great medium screen size wise to access information. Working with a laptop in a car is nice if you have the room, but by the time you get a decent stationary base and hook up power for the laptop, it does take up more room than you may realize. I'll always ask around to people who use a product that I think about purchasing, and everyone I talk to who uses an iPad seems to really like it.

To be quite honest Joe, I have yet to find anyone dissatisfied with any tablet they have bought.. It really comes down to preference and in my case I have not found one yet I really like. Everything from the USB Port on the iPad is proprietary ( requiring special Apple Cable ) to Samsung's Galaxy that has the Android platform I am not impressed with yet.. We have moved to Lotus Notes and Microsoft Office corporately and I cannot justify getting another IBM License and Microsoft one as well for the tablet.. Microsoft may let me move my license if it's Windows Based and that may make IBM much easier as well.. It was either Acer or Asus Tablet that offered it in a Windows Version for $399.00. But 16G is not enough for business as I get that much in 2 months and our conversion to IBM is almost complete..

To be quite honest there will be a new slew of these coming out and even if your preference is Apple I would wait for the competition to bang down the doors so Apple lowers their cost.. Just my opinion..

Thanks for the information.

I guess part of my new interest in the iPad is I just picked up a new iMac for my desk top.

Honestly, the learning curve is kind of slow going and driving me crazy (particular with numbers instead of excel), but I had checked with our IT people and I'm still able to access the company server and work within their Microsoft world.

I do a lot of driving and always use to take my laptop with me. As I mentioned, I primarily used the laptop to access information from various manufacturers to access technical information. I was sold on the Droid smart phone the first time I saw someone enlarge the screen to read information off the internet. I was very impressed with the phone because prior to that, I had a Blackberry, and IMO utilizing the web off the phone was useless because I could never seem to be able to read the screen. As I mentioned, it seems that the tablet is a nice medium between the phone and laptop, which is why I have my eyes on one now. A laptop isn't hard to work with, but if you drive high mileage and live with it (laptop) in your car, it does take up more space than you when you need to ensure that it's secure (nothing like going around a corner with the laptop on the passenger seat falling to the floor LOL).
