This came up in another thread and I thought it would be interesting to hear people's views of why they think peace has yet to be found by mankind. Man has roamed this planet for thousands of years, yet at every stage, there has been war. Why?

This is a very complicated question that I wish to fully address tomorrow, its late now. But, it will ALWAYS have to do with these things: Resources, class, money and land.

Really, in my opinion, it only ties itself back to one thing. Greed.

Greed and Intolerance in todays society is the reason. Its a shame that world peace is too far away for us to reach because of that.

the problem is religion.
think about it. you have all these different areas of the world with their specific sets of beliefs. you believe what you believe and theres nobody who can take that from you. thats how every religion is. look at the shit going on in the middle east. these people are so fucking hardcore into their religion that they strap bombs to themselves and blow themselves to smitherines. thats some serious faith right there.
so long as organized religion exists, there will never be peace on earth.
and, if you are a reader of the bible like i am, you will know that religion will always be around. well.... thats just more common sense than anything.
the world is going to end in war. religious war, the war that is already going on. look at palestine and israel. they have been fighting for freakin years. their fighting will never stop. why? because their religions will not allow it. they both believe that they are in the right and are so damn stubborn that they will effectively kill eachother off defending their beliefs.

Humans can't even stop being at war with themselves, much less each other. Our flesh and our soul battle each other on a constant basis - everyday on a conscious and an unconscious level. (it is the whole angel on one shoulder and devil on the other shoulder image)

And even though some people can conquer the ways of the flesh (anger, pride, vengefulness, selfishness, etc.) with their soul on a pretty consistent basis, there are many others that can't.

This clash causes pain and brokenness, within ourselves, and with each other.
