Periods of silence appear in prayer, meditation, fasting, and retreats. In a noisy world, silence feels uncomfortable for many. Why is silence valued spiritually? Does it create reflection, discipline, or a sense of presence?

Peace is one central idea in many religious, and when you go silent, you experience peace. maybe that's the reason why many spiritual traditions give silence importance

I see silence as a way to slow down and notice what’s often missed. It creates space for reflection and self-awareness, builds discipline by resisting distraction, and deepens presence, letting spiritual insight emerge naturally rather than being forced through constant action or noise.
