It was the worst thing ever for Rep. Joe Wilson to yell out, "You Lie" to Obama during his speech the other night. Are the democrats not remembering the fact that many of their own party booed Bush during his speeches? I don't particularly understand the double standard in play here.

Perfect, get rid of whatever decorum standards that are left. I don't think it has happened before when a President is addressing Congress, yelling out "you lie" or booing. I have listened to many Presidential addresses when Congress is controlled by the other party and the standard is a minimum of unenthusiastic clapping. And why did all of prominent Republicans come down on Wilson?

So basically, your hearing is as selective as your memory is. Maybe the audio quality on it sucked, but I remember very clearly that he was booed during that speech, and it sounded like booing in the video to me. They booed and yelled "No" to his claims that Social Security was going bankrupt and needed reform.

Got to agree with that, saw a speech by Obama last week and it could have taken him a tenth of the time to make if the audience didn't to decide to break into applause at the end of every sentence.:thumbdown

As much as I despised Bush and his administration, I still have respect for the office. I would want the Senate and House to kick his ass in the right way.

This is also why I was disturbed by the reaction of the "right" when Obama was going to address the kids in school. Because even though I thought Bush was a complete moron and fuck up, I wouldn't care if he had addressed my kids in school. I want my children to have respect for the office of president and I don't want my disdain for the man to diminish that. They will have plenty of time later in life to judge the man in the office when they are able to understand politics, but they need to learn respect for the office first.

I tend to go with how the Brits do it. If ya think there is something said by the leader that is wrong then why not say something. It is not like the guy pulled a Kayne West. He blurted out liar. The cameras though had Pelosi in plain view. Did anybody who saw it not read her lips?? Her outrage probably made it more of a story than it was.
