It totally depends on what you believe in on why we exist. I would say we exist to learn and progress and leave the earth better than we found it.

I have no idea what your getting at.

im just saying, if what u say is true, then there was a fate "type" of purpose for us before we came around, in the seed of existance. i guess i take u as the type that needs a lot of proof to say most anything (when it comes to this type of stuff that is). but i'm probably wrong

No, you got me wrong. I think by doing what I said is just helping people, no predestined fate or anything like that.

helping people, i def dig. i say that your reason Is what our species is Meant to do in order to survive to the fullest extent. it has no ill side effects (progress being obviously good, giving back to the earth, a def plus). . you've moved more from stating an opinion to presenting a real fact of nature. and i think facts of nature are like facts of mathamatics, even before there were people to speak of numbers, the numbers were always there. (sorry for straying)

I think if we don't know or not sure of how we got here and how we evolved exactly, we wouldn't know why we are here.

We are not a bunch of absurd creatures, we are reason. Reason is a human construct- designed to explain, predict, and adapt to the environment around us. So if you want to brainstorm reasons for why we exist, you'll find some. But that doesn't mean our existence or the reasons for our existence was necessary.

I guess I'm in the "we exist because we do" crowd.

Here's my current theory as to why people create purpose for themselves or humanity as a whole.

Humans typically fear the unknown and unexplained. They have a need to define the world around them and designate everything with a particualr purpose, to them or the wrold around them.

However, when defining their own existence, they have nothing to realate it to, they see themselves as above all other things in the world.

So they uusually create(more often follow) religions and philosophies to justify an existence which stand out on it's own above all other things in the universe.

if this all has no reason, and its just searching for something that is not there, perhaps there is a needed reason to search. i do not feel the need stems from fear, maybe for some, or most, but def not all. it is an intriguing thought for our minds, and most times fun to compare ideas with others. a reason could be just to produce interaction and questions for advancment, or to make the mind strong and blessed with unanswerable thoughts. or maybe none at all, but we can only speculate, which is great on its own

ok to begin we need to lay out some truths

we exist

as far as we know we have existed for number of thousands of years.

because we have no record of how we came to be we ask these questions

for whatever reason we as a species are curious

curiosity being a very animal trate as it exists in many other species

that curiosity coupled with a capacity for abstract thought and complex cognative processes and a subconcious lead to theory and innovation.

that innovation causes us to create things with purpose and gives us the ability to find purpose and connection in everything we see. an understanding

we then look inward and try to find a purpose for ourselves ..because if everything has a purpose and a pattern and a path ..so should we.

we all have a built in need to belong to something. almost like other animals naturaly herd together.

so because we cannot find this purpose so easily we rey on our theory and innovation once again.

we come up with ideas and share them just like we are doing now.. the ones that make sense .. or cannot be prven wrong get passed on .

the best ones conitnue throuout our history until they evolve into common truths. these "truths" are what turn into religion.

a sense of purpose explained by introducng something greater than us.

be it god or allah or odin or zues.and the many myriad of gods thoughout history. these figures usually lead to a common idea .. and that the purpose of this life is to be a good person and to be socially acceptable, and to be humble because this phase of our lives is only the beggining ( or one section of a long path to nirvana)

and if we do what we are supposed to the goood feelings we experience now will be expounded upon in ways we cannot even begin to imagine

so frm all that ..my purpose .. is to be me.. and try t make this phase as good an experience for me and the peple around me
