Happy that'd it has never happened in my family. The main cause to me seems it is always siblings rivalry and lack of understanding

siblings relationship could be repaired. it is one of the easiest relationship to fix but sometimes, we allow pride get the most of us. I've had issues with my sibbling for a long time, we were missing each others company as we were far apart. we just didn't have the courage to fix it. when everything was resolved years later, i discovered it was linked to an unresolved childhood issue

Yes this kind of situation is usually common in most families. I think this usually happens when they lack that strong bond. They have been apart for a while and before you know it they are used to not communicating with one another for long and they start doing their own things.
