When you have been living together for a long time now, things can feel repetitive, and there is no more excitement. So, some people see their partners as just roommates now. It can be because of stress, too. To rekindle the spark, spend some quality time by going to places you have never been to before, having date nights, and so on. What can you say?

The spark is lost in a relationship when it gets to the point that a partner sees the other partner as a roommate. They both have to take initiatives to spice up their romantic life again. Or they risk losing the relationship.

Never been in live in relationship. If someone sees their partner just as a roommate I guess that are not committed to relationship.

Some people view partners as roommates when emotional connection fades and daily routines dominate. Responsibilities, chores, and logistics replace intimacy and shared experiences. Without intentional communication, quality time, or effort to maintain romance, relationships can feel functional rather than emotionally fulfilling, leading to that “roommate” dynamic.

When a relationship starts to feel like two people simply sharing space, it often points to emotional distance. Routines replace romance, and practical tasks overshadow genuine connection. People stop expressing affection, stop listening, and stop prioritizing each other. Without effort, comfort turns into complacency. It raises an important question: how do couples protect closeness before it fades?
