Why Do Many Religions Use Stories Instead of Direct Rules?

Instead of instructions alone, religions rely on parables, myths, and sacred histories. Why are stories more persuasive than rules? Do stories allow people to interpret meaning more personally?

That's because religion is a tool to teach general people, who do not understand the theories and ideas but if they are embedded with the stories, they understand it well.
