Cricket has a massive following in South Asia, while baseball dominates in the Americas. What cultural or historical factors do you think made cricket more popular in Asia than baseball? Could baseball ever grow in countries like India or Pakistan?
The only reason I can see is baseball was actually developed form cricket. Another reason is colonialism. Where ever the British reached, they taught cricket.
Well, cricket is already popular in Africa, especially where Britain had established colonies. But it is sad that except South Africa, most of the cricketing nation in African are not doing well in the international arena.Well, it seems like cricket is now becoming popular in other regions as well. Some African countries were showing a lots of interest in cricket until india ruined every thing. I am sure you might have heard about the so-called "three nation" monopoly in cricket that involved "three" nations (i.e. australia, india, and england) trying to take over the game of cricket.

When you are a powerhouse, you certainly have upper hands in the governing body. India brings in 70-80 percent revenue for ICC.There are just a few African nations who are interested in cricket. South Africa is just one such nation which is interested in cricket. Unfortunately, monopoly in cricket by countries like india and australia has damaged the game of cricket. Cricket needs to be promoted at an international level.
