Facing economic hopelessness, many Gen Zers are spending recklessly. Is this financial illiteracy or a psychological coping mechanism?

Have you ever made a purchase just to feel better temporarily?

This generation has more things to buy compared to previous generations, from games and gadgets to clothes and food, the market is flooded with a lot of products. And these products tempt this generation

I think young people are shopping instead of saving because of social media influence, instant gratification, and rising stress levels. With uncertain futures and economic pressure, spending offers short-term comfort.

I'd say it is just financial illiteracy. Most young people these days only care about getting what they want, the idea of saving is inexistent for them. They need proper orientation on how to manage their finances.

I don’t think it is just about financial literacy it is also about experiences. For young people, experiences matter more and they want to experience by buying things.

You cannot blame the young people. They lack financial literacy. All that is on their minds is to compete with their peers and buy what their eyes attract,

What type of experience could they possibly be looking for by buying everything they see, even then those things are absolutely unnecessary? In the end, they might even end up in debt, well I guess you can also call that an experience too 😄.

Spending money is easier than saving money.

We often see something we want and the want is far stronger than the need to save money. I've seen people who spend money like it's burning a hole in their pocket but then they complain when they don't have any money when an emergency comes up.
