Constant exposure to doomscrolling has left many Gen Zers emotionally detached from global issues. Is this a coping mechanism or dangerous complacency?

The situation is that young people are constantly bombarded with news about global crises through social media and the internet.
This constant stream of negative information can be emotionally draining and lead to a sense of desensitization or numbness as a coping mechanism.

I don't feel that young people are actually numb to world crisis. I believe that they are more aware about the crises than than the older generation.

I see doomscrolling as both a coping mechanism and a risk. It numbs emotions to avoid overwhelm but can also lead to apathy. Balancing awareness with self-care is vital to stay informed without becoming emotionally drained or indifferent.

I don't think they're insensitive, but it seems to me that it's simply because, despite global crises, you have to keep your life the same and continue doing what you have to do, so whether there's a global crisis or not, it doesn't take away from the fact that you have to continue working, living, and doing what you do. I suppose that's why.
