I'm not into the horror genre but two flicks that make me go wtf are Sorority Row and Jennifer's Body. One movie about typical college chicks getting slaughtered and another about a possessed bisexual cheerleader who kills boys until her friend tries to kill her for killing the boys?

horror have always had hot women in them meeting an unfortunate end.

The Jennifers body one however is just cashing in on Megan Fox being apparantly the sexiest women in the world. Like how that film about scuba diving which had Jessica Alba was just an excuse to have her swimming around in not much.

I thought the horror genre lost it when they went the route of excruciatingly painful graphic gratuitous violence. I think for many people it becomes something unwatchable. Horror to large degree relies on buildup of suspense and leaves some of the horror up to your imagination. Some graphic violence maybe be necessary, but many of the new movies have lost the sense of when it is too much gore. Course if those movies make money, the producers think they have a successful formula.

When I was a kid, the original "Haunting" scared me a lot and that was mostly sounds, a bulging door, and your imagination at work. :) The remake was a special effects extravaganza, and not scary at all. John Carpenter's The Thing was on the graphic side but not over my line, and I loved the suspense of trying to figure out who was infected. :)
