i think it's funny how we are in such debt yet this country can survive. But when it comes down to the individual person you can be thrown on the streets.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the period where the US had the highest debt as % of GDP was during the mid 20th century? Because that isn't represented on the chart here.
