If once you input your area code and it brings up a box with info you can click on the sky log option which will tell you better where to look. it will tell you how many degrees about a given direction on approach and departure

That's good information for sure.

Nice pics Mystic. be very careful around bears this time of year. They have young ones to watch out for and can be very aggressive. I'm sure I didn't have to tell you that considering where you live but I wanted to anywhoo cuz I need you around.

Psst.... get rid of that avatar. It's making me real skeered.......

Very eerie pictures.....

and hunting bear! :eek Are you mad? :willy_nilly:
.... had there been any i would have taken the shots from the car.:ninja:D
it was such a pretty moon last night....great pics elsa!
thanks.

Awesome pics, and it's been a long time since i've seen that many stars in the sky with all the city lights here.
thanks, yes, i suppose had we gone more out of town we would have seen the stars. We used to able to see them from our house, but with more and more ground lighting the view of stars has diminished.:(
Elsa those pic rock!
thanks:D

Yeah if you get away from the city lights it is amazing how many stars. I bet urban kids that never get the chance to get out of the city would be dumbfounded at the numbers up there. We had a cottage on lake michigan as I grew up. When we got older we would go down there and have a few beers and just be in awe at the sky.
When we lived in the Toronto area that was one of my biggest misses, was the stars. When we moved back north it was the first thing i did was look up and gaze. BUT now we need to be out at the cottage on a clear night to see them...very sad that even in a small town the stars are being pushed out by light pollution.

:eeki'll have to check that out...do you think even in Canada we might see a glimpse of it?

:D:thumbupmy dog and pepper spray, although illegal in my area, are my best friend...but seriously i would have taken them from the safety of the car had there been any bears. Once i knew there wasn't any, i just walked the tree line of the course with an ear out for any movement so i could hightail it back to the car.:willy_nilly::24: I like teddybears, but not the living kind.:ninja

When it gets warmer and the bears become more frequent around here i'll be sure to snag a few shots. They love the golf courses dumptser. The idiot cartboys never put the lid properly down so it becomes a right mess some days.

Elsa if you go to that link I provided I think it will give you the times it is visible. You should be able to see it also. Don't expect much more than a bright star. I don't know your area code or where you live on the lake but the link provides for viewing in areas of Canada such as Thunder Bay as I recall.
