When it comes to "the children"

As a society we seem to have a fetish when it comes to the welfare of "the children". For example, take a look at some of the laws in the U.S. Theres now a data base set up for sexual crimes so that everyone knows who they are. Our next door neighbor could have murdered someone and we likely would never know, but if this person comitted a sex crime against a minor he is marked on this public list. We go to unbelievable heights to make sure our tv progamming is censored so that "the children" won't see Janet Jacksons boobs. If a man is late on child support we make this civil offense into a crime and put him in jail.....

So then why is it that we as a society don't give a rats ass about the future of our children in terms of global warming and clean abundant energy? And in the case of the U.S., we seem to care not a rip as to whether we borrow money from our children.

we don't give a rats ass about global warming because it's not an issue. As far as clean(er) energy, look at some of the technolgy that's came out recently. Hybrid cars etc

I was watching discovery and they said globalwarming is bullshit over the lasst 7 years the temp. of the earth has actually dropped....small fractions but have dropped or did I read that on the internet :dunno

global warming doesnt exist. liberal science groups have been recorded dynomiting icebergs in the north atlantic for television purposes. glacier shearing is the most common cause of the hype of global warming, but the public believes what they see on t.v.

and if temps rose/dropped, we would encounter a climate shift (similar to that of the ice age and other eras/eons of climate change) and many of these shifts have to do with nuclear fusion and differing levels of different elements in abundance on earth. in theory, this supports glabal warming in one means- the reduction of fossil fuels through burning them causes temp rise, but everything has been blown out of proportion

It seems like in the whole history of the planet more emphasis is always put on acts that are a sexual nature. I don't really understand why all these conservative people always put more importance on sex.

I mean look at how much people freak out about for example, the doll sex scene in Team America. Sure we can have movies that have Brains and entrails splattering all over the screen but the second a couple dolls wanna do the deed the reg flag is waved.

I'm sure I read somewhere recently that the effect that burning fossil fuels is having on the environment is negligable and shouldn't be worried about as the Earths resources of fuel will of been completely depleated before any serious damage has occured.

I could be wrong though and dreamt that. :dunno

After having lived in Spain for the past year and a half I think I can safely say that America is entirely over-censored. But, there are other countries that are even worse. Here in Spain it is a common thing to see women walking around beaches topless... not a big deal over here. Parents let their young kids run around butt-ass nekkid on the beaches too and it doesn't turn a single head. Network television (the kind you can get with just an antenna and not have to pay for) shows hardcore porn on friday nights. I don't have the proof to back it up, but I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to find, but here in Spain there are far fewer sex crimes than in the U.S., per capita of course. So I really don't see what the big deal is with showing the occasional sex scene on TV in the US.

And as for the global warming thing... there is geological evidence that the Earth has previously gone through several periods of global warming, which in turn results in periods of global cooling a.k.a. an ice age. And these periods were natural circumstances that weren't caused by the burning of fossil fuels. So, it only makes sense to say that the Earth will experience several more of these periods whether we continue to burn fossil fuels or not.

I do, however, believe that it is our responsibility to further our research and begin to implement the use of alternative energies on a more global-wide scale in the very near future because fossil fuels are considered a non-renewable resource. Once it's gone, it's gone.
