About an American NFL football team?

http://network.yardbarker.com/nfl/a..._government_pushing_for_nfl_franchise/7810336

The annual recent NFL game in London, England, which was between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Chicago Bears, was a bad news-good news scenario. The bad news came when the British Government said it wasn’t interested in holding one or two games each year at Wembley Stadium. However, the good news was that it said they wanted their own full-time NFL franchise.
A Member of Parliament named Richard Fuller from Bedford said there’s a lot of support for the American version of football in the Westminster and London area and he has put together a group of people who would like to develop the sport in Britain at both the professional and amateur levels. He said his people will be working hand in hand with the NFL, the British American Football Association, and other groups to try and help promote the sport in Britain.
He added that they want to get kids involved in football at the grassroots level and find ways for local athletes to develop their skills in the game. But, he admitted, the thing they want the most is an NFL team to be based in the UK. He also admitted that there’s an endless amount of work to do to make it happen and one of the major obstacles will be developing a fan base that’s big enough to support a team in London.

I'd rather watch rugby union which is a global sport. Don't like all the stopping and starting in gridiron and it's over complicated and basically just an American novelty sport. Attracting fans to a one off novelty sport game is a completely different matter to getting them to watch it week in, week out. Can't see it catching on.

I don't see it working or taking off either. What struck me as odd was that it's Brit's wanting to bring the team in, not Americans.

Traditions People do not like change
they feel it was done better the first time
some time they are right
or is it this is mine get your own ideas dont try to copy me with a lame copy
or should it be I recognize that you see we have a great thing here and you would like to share it too and are trying to make it work
as best you can but realize it isnt easy and are doing the best for what fits in their society as they can

Seem to remember 20 odds years ago they tried to start a European gridiron competition, we had the London Monarchs or something (if that name wasn't thought up by the yanks, I'd be surprised!) They lasted all of 7 years and were a fucking disaster!

Sports franchises wouldn't work over here, I think. That's not the way it works.
Wimbledon tried to move out of London, and they were abandoned by their fanbase and had to morph into the MK Dons. Who are scummers. From what I understand in North America, Franchises often move areas and start up other teams in different leagues and such.

That's before you even get to the problems of having an English American Football franchise; who would watch them? Rugby internationals might get good crowds, but domestic Rugby crowds are comparatively very low. Wasps, one of the biggest names in English & European rugby, play at Wycombe Wanderer's football ground - a stadium designed for the third tier of English football.
