1. Slash and Burn Politics- Destroy the Opposition at ALL Costs.

2. Remove Lobbyists and money from elections. As long as elections can be purchased, average citizens will be screwed.

3. Compromise is Required- Related to No.1. It's the only way a large country can be successfully run.

4. Term Limits- It may not be the answer but hopefully it would prevent entrenched politicians. I realize an end run can be accomplished here. Look at Russia.

5. Limit length of election cycles. I like 6 months max prior to the election.

I like your list especially number 4. Politics shouldn't be a career. It should be a service to your country. Politicians who are only worried about getting reelected aren't serving their country.

You know what the problem with the US is? We don't have the balls they did back in WWII. It's why we couldn't end Vietnam and its why we cant end the "War" in the middle East.
We need to stop being everyone's fucking friend and have nations fear us again. Only then will we be respected and not laughed at by every other country

The reason you can't finish off the war in the middle east is that you're not fighting a country, or a people, you're fighting an idea, an idea that is being perpetuated by the war itself.

Most nations do fear the US you know.

What exactly do you mean we could not end Vietnam? Do you mean we were to weak to acknowledge defeat and lingered or we should have done more there like drop the bomb?

Vietnam was a mistake when it happened. The threat of global communism was an illusion and the lessons learned from Nam were not retained. We were patting ourselves on the back with the first Iraq War, (about Nam lessons learned), but then it takes one stupid politician with support of his party to fuck it up. Yes GWBush. You know in the first Iraq War (Desert Storm) General Norman Schwarzkopf wanted to go to Bagdad, but Daddy Bush said no. He was much smarter than his son.

The reason you can't finish off the war in the middle east is that you're not fighting a country, or a people, you're fighting an idea, an idea that is being perpetuated by the war itself.

We are fighting a movement.

We went in to help and as soon as we left thousands of innocent people were slaughtered. The same is going to happened here. The Iraqi people want us there more than we want to be there

We ended it when finally forced out. Should we have been there in the first place?

It's naive to think that Iraq and Afghanistan want the coalition forces there.

What they want is freedom, and I don't mean in the bastardised way that the coalition stamps on the country. I ask you, how can you free a country, if you wage a military campaign against it and create a martial law state and impose your own brand of governance with out the consent of the population?

I don't think the Iraqis ever asked for Western help. Why would they? We were already crippling them with sanctions.

I think you have to be on the ground to understand how the people feel about the troops being there.
Civilians begged my roommate, who was a marine, for the troops to not leave because they know that with them there life is actually BETTER. As soon as we leave, the insurgents and Taliban are going to come out of hiding, because they are afraid. They know they cannot fight face to face. It's why they have to use IED's. We are postponing an inevitable slaughter

That would depend on which people from Iraq you asked..saddam took sharia law to another level and had his own version which wasnt pleasant...many of these people are dead as he began cleansing his own nation for example

I'll happily concede that after the invasion, many Iraqis understood the fragility of the country and the necessity for an occupying force. But beforehand? I'm not so sure.

The real life perspective:thumbup....not the liberal news outlets who want to have the news to catch the audience with negative emotion rather than positive

True news such as below should have been airing for years
More hospitals and schools built the last few weeks..safe water ,as well as safer streets to walk, more troops killed by pussy insurgents that hide among the civilians,
makes for a boring story when we present the truth...we must also remember another reason this information isn't pushed forward is because of mouthy shits that spew talk such as fuck them guys I dont want my tax money going there.,,blah blah blah...thats all we need on the evening news on the other side of the ocean....thus why we dont tell our people anymore than we have to

All I am saying is I do not support this war. But I do support the troops and our allies that are helping keep relative peace in an area that hasnt seen it in many many years.
We are there now, and the fact of the matter is we went there for wrong reasons, but we were provoked nonetheless. An attack like this from a country who collectively as a whole hated America until we attempted to help them from terror in their own home. The ones opposing our troops are the real enemies, whether it be with words or bombs. Support is what these people need because they are protecting your freedom to even speak out against them
