So quite some time ago now, I attempted to get into the Walking Dead. I had nothing else to watch at the time and someone had likened The Walking Dead to Dexter, and I love Dexter. So I thought that I would give the show a try and watch it. I ended up downloading the episodes and watching. The first couple of episodes were nothing special but I plodded on watching anyway, hoping that business would pick up sooner or later.

I got to season two, and just couldn't watch anymore. The stupidity of the characters is annoying, and also the characters are royally boring. The show is a really quiet and boring show in my opinion. so when I hear people raving about it, I am always confused as to what it is exactly that they like about the show?

If you like The Walking Dead, what is it that you like about it?

I guess the allure has to be the idea of a post-apocalyptic society where almost everything is gone. The idea of watching a band of survivors make it depite the odds is just very inspiring. I am sure the fact that anyone who dies will automatically rise as a ghastly zombie does make it a tad creepy and the fact that the characters are so strongly fleshed-out by the cast further adds to the appeal of this series. It's not you average gory zombie flick!

First it was vampires now it's zombies sorry but I just couldn't get into it. It has good special effects - to good it's kind of gory.
I would like to see something with werewolves and the werewolves are the good guys.

I like walking dead, because of the survival aspect, they have to live in extremely conditions, they had nothing at the beginning and they're still alive, ti's just interesting to see what they're going to do next and the way they solve the numerous problems along the way.

I have no idea, personally. The show is just extremely slow and the characters are flat. Don't like it at all.

It shouldn't even be compared to Telltale's game and the comics, which are superior in every single way.

For me, I'm always into survival stories. I can't really say for sure that I know why. Zombies are usually good for pushing people to their limits. So, zombie survival stories tend to peak my interest. I've read a lot of the Walking Dead Comics. I still want more out of the show, but it's interesting enough to keep me watching.

Well, I began watching it because I'd heard it was a horror and because it was 'really good'. I didn't like the first episode. It wasn't scary at all. I could see that they were trying, but the characters were so dull and the zombie factor was so badly done I had to stop.

I remember trying myself watching the first episode of this show and since I am a fan of horror flicks and this show is kind word of mouth sensation, I had this big expectation but then I found the first episode really boring but I did not give uo that easy, I tried the next ones and after that I decided to do the right thing, save my time for better shows!

I like fantasy worlds with rules, if that makes sense. The characters in The Walking Dead are in our world, but with a new element added, a disease that causes the dead to walk around and eat flesh. The human drama of how to deal with this world after that change is what's interesting. I like shows/movies with tough decisions, like often in The Walking Dead, people will keep loved ones 'alive' as zombies but closed up because they can't bear to let them be totally dead, but this is dangerous behavior because that zombie is a dangerous thing to keep around obviously. So in this scenario, you need to go stab your loved one's zombie in the head, which isn't an easy thing to do. Also, the fact alone that it's an apocalyptic world can make for an interesting human drama, there isn't a police force or government, people have to band together, decide who to trust and maintain that group etc.

At the moment though, there aren't many characters on the show I particularly like, and sometimes episodes can be very boring, but overall I find it entertaining enough, it's not my favorite show though.

If you hate the TV series give the comic a chance. It has a lot of what the show is missing and it will help you better understand the fervent obsession some have with the show. It's, as I imagine, when Batman comic readers in the 90's got a taste of Tim Burton's take on Batman.
