Ok, I keep getting told that I need to "get a life". It was late last night when I wrote everything in my registry and found out that what I'd written in from guessing the total actually was the total. I was surprised by it because it's never happened that way, especially coming out to be an even number as such.

But anyway, my question now to you all is what makes a life?

Is the person who went out all the time and partied in his younger days, but is now married, any better than the person who is in the 'party' age but rarely ever goes out?

Is the person who goes out and parties any better than the person who would rather stay home and take care of themselves, and more important things than drinking themselves silly?

I'm just perplexed on what peoples opinions of what 'having a life' is all about.

With people my age, it seems I don't have a life because I don't go out and get buckwild, drunk, and laid whenever I can.

With my elders, it seems I don't have a life because I'm not married and I don't want a woman, much less kids.

I realize that a lot of it on here is merely jokes, but it raises an interesting opinion related point.

What is considered when explaining what having a life is all about?

The definition of "Having a life" is individual to everyone, it is what makes you the happiest, whether it means going out partying, sleeping with every Polly, Molly or Jane, building model aircraft, settling down with the picket fence, and kids or staying single, and leading a quiet life. Whatever brings you personal satisfaction, and fulfillment is your "Having a life". :)

I think I have a life. I've been busy at work, I'm planning on taking a trip to Texas, I'm working on my car. I'm doing things that I want to do with my free time. Just because something simple like that makes me laugh doesn't mean I'm apparently pathetic.

No I know, I don't really care if Tim (as an example, even though I know he was joking about it anyway) thinks I need to get a life on here because there are quite a few things that a lot of you don't really know about me... but this is a culmination of what I've been told off of the board by coworkers and family as well.

I agree with chris here. IO think these people think you do what you do because you are depressed or dont feel like you could "hang" with these people. I mean you can get a little down and depressed as we all can, but you seem to be perfectly happy with your life most of the time so keep doing what you want to be doing. In the long run its all about you.

Also, I didn't really want this to be about me specifically... perhaps some of you have the same things happen to them and could give me some insight as to why or maybe how to respond to it so I could get people to just leave me alone about it.

Tell ya what James, if you had a life, you'd know what one was :D

:jk man, your life is what you make of it. As long as you like your life, who gives a fuck what other people think? Life's about living, not making other people happy. If they care about you, they should be happy that you're happy.

I live my life, or life in general, through you guys. It's more interesting to read what you guys did today than 90% of the things I do every day...

Pretty sad, huh? :ninja

My life is constantly under the scrutiny of the older females in my family (Grandma is the biggest culprit), and I hear nonstop echoing bleats of "Why aren't you married, and have children?" For the most part it's like water of a ducks back with me. I'm content with my life; I have a great career, and I'm also studying for another diploma to enhance that career,I own my own home, and like you, James, I'm undertaking renovations, I have great friends, and hobbies/interests. I'm 24, and still single, but there is plenty of time for Mr Right to come along, until then I will not be "settling" for the sake of a wedding ring, and/or children.

There are plenty of experiences out there with my unwed name on them. ;)

I guess most families are like that...pushing for grandkids...but I am at that point where I'm looking to settle down...doesn't mean I'm not going to have fun though till I meet miss right...and even when I do I will continue to have fun just in other ways haha
