That's kind of what modernists like Hemingway thought - that life sucked and then you just died. No heaven or hell or rhyme or reason.

I kind of like living according to that - that we are just all writhing in the mud on this darkling plain and when we die we become nothing more than wormfood.

It makes the nice things REALLY good.

One could replace "Hell" with "School". We are in school. We're here to learn from our past mistakes and evolve higher. Each trip is an opportunity to work through the 'karma' you have garnered from the last life and your lessons learned and/or unlearned for the next.

All w/the hopes of evolving closer to 'God'.

I dunno I just plan to live my life having as much fun as I can while still being moral and fair to everyone I meet. If god wants to send me to en eternity of misery for not choosing the correct religion, I guess the devil would be a cooler person to hang with anyways.

imagine if you will.......if you had every thing you wanted, never went without anything......if you always won.....never lost......where would the fun be?.....life would be so boring,it'd be hell actually

imagine your life.....when you get something new your over the moon.....you fall in love and its utopia......you get those new jeans and its a big deal.....you score that goal you're the hero.......see where i'm going with this?

Good point. I think we all too often focus on the difficulties of our present life rather that the good parts. ;)

If everything was perfect there would be no competitiveness in the world. :willy_nilly:

When I was in 3rd grade, I don't remember what we were talking about, but my teacher was a big hippie. I told her that I didn't want peace on Earth because that would just be... well boring. Conflict is the interesting part of life. She said "Well you can volunteer to go live in a 3rd world country ravaged with war then!" but that's not what I met. I don't want perfect peace and harmony on earth, I want us to agree to disagree before we start wars. I want us to share land in mature ways. But I want us to argue about it every step of the way, because otherwise it would be wayyyy to boring around here.

Course middle age folks don't listen to ten year olds.

First of all, I all ready suggested this in a previous thread. :p

However, If you look at the majority of people on the planet is could be argued most of them are having a not so good time. But since we have a lifespan here and presumably go somewhere else (if we go anywhere), it would not really count as hell as that is supposed to be for all eternity. If you believe in heaven and hell, why should you get no second chances? When it comes to everlasting spirits, the idea that you don't get chances to learn and reform yourself sounds like BS to me. ;)
