I just noticed a crack in my computer, above and below what kinda looks like a button. It's stuck in now, but there's little words next to it...

i (it's kinda picture like) s400 (something-something-E 1994)

What does that mean and does it matter that it's pushed in?

I have a Toshiba Satellite, if that matters.

How did that happen?

If everything is still working with no problems, then I wouldn't worry about it too much. I might turn it off and restart it just to see if it boots up ok.

I have no clue. :dunno:

It's been dropped a few times. Last I can recall was over Thanksgiving. Surely I would have noticed by now...

It doesn't seem like anything's wrong with it.

Not really... It's stuck too far in!

I can try to take a picture of it, but all I have is my cell, so it probably won't work well.

is this a laptop? most laptops have PCMCIA slots on them, show the picture from the cell and I can tell you for sure.

Does the 'i' look something like this?

s400 is also a clue - FireWire.

the "something something E 1994" -> IEEE 1394.

Definitely FireWire; the s400 indicates a speed of 400mbps, which is common.

Yes! That's what it looks like! And I couldn't read the first part of those letters because they've been rubbed off, but that looks like it works.

Yeah, I've never used it. Honestly, I didn't even know it was there.

I need a new computer so bad. I've had this thing for four years, and it's about had it.
