So I'm driving the Intrepid and have the A/C on and I look and I see vapor coming out of my vents. I switch it to defroster and I see it hitting my windows. I can only see it when the sun is hitting it but VERY VISIBLE.

This doesn't seem right. I've NEVER seen this before, even when it was much hotter outside. It can't just be the cool air condensing against the hot air and it's constant.

Help me out with this one.

Sounds like the heater core. Does it have a sweet smell to it? What year is the Intrepid b/c they have been known to have A/C problems. Mainly the A/C condenser going out in them. If it quits cooling, the vapor could be freon. The Condenser in my Durango went out like that but when t did, the freon came out of the vents and it was green. It smelled alot like rubbing alcohol too. I havent gotten it fixed yet b/c its gonna be about $700 or so.

Werd... that's a common problem on many cars. Heater core busts, Coolant starts getting all up into the passenger compartment. I know a few people with 91-96 Escorts that have had to buy new ECUs because coolant fried theirs.

It does cool down the car and there really is no smell to it either. When you see stuff like that, you wonder if the gas your seeing is toxic.

where is the air pulled from that goes into the car for a/c?

if its off of something hot, it may not be cooling it down all the way, and you see the water vapor, when cool air meets hot air... sorta like condensing water on the side of a glass of ice water...

:dunno

I can't remember if coolant has a smell to it when it's burnt. I do know that it will taste very sweet, but you don't have it leaking straight into the passenger compartment.

I was thinking that but I never saw that before and that's why I'm worried.

Yes, that is why you need to be careful adding coolant so it doesn't spill on the ground w/o you knowing. Animals will lick it up killing them.

*bangs head to KISS...lick it up, lick it up, ohhh, ohhh, ohhh it's only right now* :rock
