Do you think the Sea Shepards have a right to do what they are doing? I just watched the show last night and we only hear one side of the story. Plus I hate Green Peace and if they are like PETA and dont think animals should ever killed by humans... well then I'm not sure how credible hey are.

I don't know what sea shepards are but whales are more akin to humans than a lot of people realise. Humans are hunter-gatherers; they have, and will continue to, kill animals for food and other uses but the wholesale slaughter of any animal is both ignorant and irresponsible. Animal lovers and animal users should both practice moderation.

I disagree with hunting of whales but, I don't disagree with the hunting of land animals. Becuase we can maoderate the populations of deer, etc. But whales are out of our jurisdiction. We just can't know what their populations are. Plus, it is commercial hunting that the japanese do, not kill one whale that will last them for an entire year...

Well, I"m not sure what their "agenda" is outside of whales .. but they only eat Vegan on the Steve Irwin .. and the captain is a co-founder of Green Peace .. so I would assume they don't agree with killing animals at all.

I think the stunt they pulled on the last show I watched (sending those 2 guys ONTO that japenese ship) was fucking stupid and irresponsible. I know those people are willing to risk their lives for whales .. but they shouldn't just carelessly throw their lives away. Those 2 guys almost got tossed overboard .. and they would have died almost instantly if that hadov happened. The ship could have sucked them under, and if that hadn't happened the super cold Antartic water would have gotten them minutes later.

I also disagreed with what they did after that .. they tried to act like that japanese ship "kidnapped" those 2 men .. when they jumped on board in the 1st place. That right there should be against the law .. you don't have the right to enter someone's home without permission, you shouldn't be able to board someone's boat without permission either.

I'm all for protecting whales .. they are in danger, but I think there are better ways to carrying out such a cause.

Didn't watch the show, but Natural Selection FTW. When whales can start hunting humans, then I'll give two shits.

so that makes pushing entire species to the verge of extinction ok?

Call me shallow, but the extinction of a whale species in MY, or a few lifetimes probably isn't going to affect the sun rising and falling everyday, and like a previous poster said, as long as we got chicken, we are gonna be ALLLLLL right.:D Come to think of it, I have never eating whale. Are they tasty? If so, deal me in!!

Lol, I love the bluntness. :) I am for the conservation of endagered species just so long as it isn't out of control... like not letting people settle in certain areas of the world because it's in the zone of some endagered species. But whales? Yeah, we should definitely be certain we're not killing them faster than they can reproduce.

Chickens are pretty shit in the natural order of things but I'll be damned if I let them become exstict!

Chickens are alive to be food for other animals in the wild. So they reproduce quickly and would never go extinct unless if some weird disease happened... They can have 12 chicks a month!

Whales are beautiful. We should protect the beautiful things in life for further generations to see.

Maybe they aren't of the up most importance, but that doesn't mean they aren't.

Plus they have a niche in the ocean and without them who knows what could happen to the largest bodies of water on earth.

I've eaten shark, I'll be damned before that becomes extinct too!

Actually shark fishers can be incredibly cruel. They cut of the sharks fins and throw the animal back into the water alive. So it can other slowly drowned, bleed to death, or be eaten by something else and have no way to escape. Imagine having all of your arms and legs cut off and then thrown into an area that has a pack of cannibalistic humans roaming about.

When we originally started hunting sharks we almost pushed them to the brink of extinction. sharks are the predators of the oceans, they are so important to the eco-system there.

Agree with you 100% there. I think both sides of the argument can be extreme, but we do need to be careful with the ecosystems in existance, or species populations will go wildly out of control one way or the other.

No .. but whales are sorta like the cleans of the ocean (kinda like the filter in a fishtank) .. without them .. the ocean would get real dirty real quick .. and that = very freakin bad for everyone, since the ocean makes up a good bit of this planet .. and if it goes bad .. we're all gonna be fucked.

I just can't agree with whaling.

In the Southern Ocean, there used to be 240,000 blue whales. Now there is about 2000.

Technically you are correct sir :) and I hate PETA so that's fine by me.

And while the Sea Shepards are too extreme and used to be apart of green peace; they aren't PETA. Don't get them mixed up. Because I HATE it when people start calling every conservational group another PETA orginization. It's prejudicial and it ruins many things I stand for.
