well you just gotta love the day before a holiday right?

first thing this morning we got a call, legal blood alcohol in the ER. This of course means a Tech (me) has to go and draw the blood because they wont let the regular blood drawing people do this (apparently you have to have a degree to draw blood from drunk people lol) anyway and as Im walking out the door they say oh btw hes combative, nice its 715 in the morning Im not real thrilled so I grab another tech to come with me. Get down there the guy isnt drunk hes hopped up on something, hell knows what??? Theres 3 security guards cops people everywhere its insane and they have to hold this guy down. Nevertheless I got the blood with him kicking, screaming, crying and spitting at me oh how nice to start my day..... So how was everyone elses day today?

Its weird how different hospital are in certain things. The people in the lab where I work very rarely draw blood. They always run all the labs and do the TB skin tests and whatnot but the ER nurses always do all the blood draws in the ER
