Well, It's Monday

Toes in the water...

That's for sure.

My washer leaks regularly, and usually soaks the carpet. But today, it EXPLODED! The water covered my ENTIRE kitchen, so I had to pull the table and chairs out, and beg a neighbor that I barely know to help me move our big pantry thing. I had to move my bedroom furniture, and all the dog's stuff.

I called it in about an hour ago, and no one is here. Still. I even talked to the manager. I just called again to let them know the carpet was soaked. Maybe that will light a fire under their asses.

I was trying to eat lunch when it happened, and after I was just too worked up to eat. So I'm attempting to eat.

All I wanted was clean bed sheets, and I think once this gets fixed and their back on my bed, I'm just crawling in and hiding for the rest of the day. I've already renamed my dog Odie, and I'm Garfield.

:(

Oh- and they fixed the outside light first thing this morning.

He just came and it's the guy I like, so he's just as flabbergasted as I am. He knew to ask about the carpet on his own. He's pissed, too, because he just replaced the part that had been giving me issues, so he's as frustrated with it as I am.

Seems that way, doesn't it?

I told the guy (Wayne, who said I could special request him for repairs) that he must hate coming here once a month for the washer. I shrugged off that it happens, and he said it was bullshit that I kept having to deal with it.

And I asked him if he would report Riley, and he said no. They made friends :)

He'll be back tomorrow to replace the padding for the carpet, so my bedroom will be all wonky tonight. And I can't move the kitchen stuff in until Matt gets home. So much for productivity today.

He said there was probably someone upstairs doing laundry and putting a lot of water in the pipes, or that someone dumped grease in the pipes, and somehow an air bubble got in and then, since I'm downstairs, it traveled to me and my washer set it off. Said that would explain the disposal too. He put whatever acid plumbers use down the drain, just in case it was clogged down there. Apparently the people diagonal from me had a disposal issue today too.

That's what he said. He just replaced the part on the washer not but a month or two ago. I ran the linens again, and have my poor towels (took FIVE to soak up the water!) going, and it seems to be fine.

There are no parts to replace...

Here is a picture of a washer drain tube, notice the green arrow

There is no seal around the drop tube into the drain. If there are water problems in the building then you will ALWAYS have an issue here. The main drain pipes need to be addressed, not your washing machine.

It had been the washer before- a penny got lodged in something underneath and wedged into the washer and broke the seal. And then once, there was a penny that got shot into the tube and punctured it. And then the washer wore out... All sorts of issues.

I don't know where all the pennies keep coming from. I check pockets and take whatever change I find.

The guy came back today to put the padding back. Someone was supposed to come yesterday while he was in class, and no one did.

He told me this time that since we've had so many floods, if I want, he'll push the manager to have someone come clean all my carpets for free. :D There's a lot not great about this place, but there are a few people that make it worth the complications.
