...Homosexuality. Let's hear what you think. My personal opinion is pretty much the same as my dad's: I'm fine with it, as long as they stay on their side of the fence. I'm all for supporting gay rights, marriage, etc...as long as they don't hit on me. A good example, I know plenty of gay/lesbian/bi people, some are even friends of mine. Well, one of my sister's gay friends tries to hit on me. He told her, "I'm gonna make a move on your brother and see if he's gay or not". That's just going a little bit too far. I'm not forcing you to be straight, don't force me to be gay. I really don't get the whole, "God hates fags" thing. Here's why:

Ok, God supposedly hates homosexuals, yet the bible also says that God loves everyone, and that we're all equal in his eyes. So if were' ALL equal, and if he loves ALL of us, that means homosexuals and straight people.

This brings me on to my next point, why the fuck does it make it right, what cell in your brain made you think that it's ok to invade on other peoples' personal lives? We don't want other people telling us to who date/marry/have sex with, and neither do the gays. It's not our business, it's theirs. Probably a bad example, but it's kind of like a car. If somebody wants to own a Dodge, that's their business. If another person wants to own a Ford, that's their business. God doesn't just love one specific thing. He loves them all. And if my neighbor bough a Ford, sure, I dislike Ford, but I won't go tell him he's going to hell or he should die or that God hates him. I'll respect his opinion. Hell, Ford even does have some nice models.

Speaking of my next door neighbor, he's the biggest asshole I've ever seen on this matter. He had a homosexual brother. His exact words to me were, "I loved my brother to death, but he was a fucking fag, and I told him all his life he was going to hell, now he's dead and he's in hell". Fuck you, alright? That's messed up. It's like interracial-couples. Why be an ass? Why invade other peoples' personal lives? Seriously, I'm gonna start going up to straight people on the street and saying that God hates them. I'm gonna start going up to white couples and calling them racist.

The bottom line- Let people live their lives, and you deal with your own shit.

I would say that I mostly agree with you.

Now let me go on a related rant of my own:

Homosexuals are also responsible for their own image. I know verrrrry well the religious opinion of us (I'll say "us", since I'm in that group) isn't the greatest. That's been established. I just hate it that so many homosexuals feel the need to enforce that opinion. And it sucks because there's a new generation, and now they feel that they have to live up to the whole so called "gay lifestyle". I met a boy who was a freshman in college when I was a senior, and he was so convinced that homosexuals can't find love, can't live happy lives, can't do any of that because they're gay. They're expected to sleep around, do drugs, die young. This boy was also homosexual, and you know what? He did drugs, he slept around, and I bet he probably will die young. That's pisses the fuck out of me. Who the hell made up that stereotype? I'm gay, I'm married, I'm going to adopt children and raise a family and have a happy life just like any straight person would expect to do; I never slept around or did GHB. Why does this surprise people?

Now to bring that back slightly, not all gay men want to hit on every guy in sight. I've jokingly flirted with straight guys before, but only my friends and only people who would be comfortable with it. My best friend's husband for instance. He's known me and my husband for years, and he can take a joke. He knows that when I say to his wife, "Sorry, hun, we're gonna have to swap husbands for the night!" that I'm only kidding. He is a hot man, admittedly, but that's not the point.

In Canada, we recently voted in a conservative government (whole new rant, entitled "Fuck Stephen Harper"), and the prime minister wanted to hold a NEW vote to go backwards and make gay marriage illegal (it's been legal since July '05). Canada voted no more votes on gay marriage. Put it to rest.

Guh. I just don't understand what the hell is wrong with it. Think about the overpopulation of India and China. They could use a few homosexuals over there!

Animals that mate for life are known to be gay. Most famously: penguins! It's a natural occurence, I figure. Like hair colour or eye colour or the lines in your hands, your height, your shoe size, whether or not you can make a clover with your tongue.

See, I just hate how(No offense meant), most gay people flaunt the religious card, just like blacks flaunt the racial card. We don't hate you because God hates you, we don't arrest you because your black. If I beat the shit out of a gay man, it's likely that he either wouldn't take no for an answer, or he was just an idiot in some way, I hate idiots. Some black guy got arrested at the mall for fighting, and he goes, "Fuck yall, it's cause I'm black!". No, it's because your a DUMBASS.

Well.... there have been a LOT of well documented cases of racial profiling which give African Americans good cause to be very tense. Just depends on the city and region. Yes, it has gone overboard.

The thing about "most" gay people, is that you would never know they're gay in the first place. You probably just mean the ones who are a little bit more obvious about it, which are generally the minority.

Statistically speaking, one of every ten (some people say six or seven, but I'm slightly skeptical of those estimates...) people are gay. You wouldn't notice all of them. In a crowded mall, you'd maybe notice an obvious one or two, if that.

And yes, I suppose we do flaunt the religious card. My best friend did a paper on it in university, and she has pointed out that religion is probably not responsible for the current attitudes towards homosexuality. In the middle ages, same-sex love was encouraged among the monks. Serge and Bacchus were saints, and it is believed that they were gay. I believe one describes the other as "sweet companion and lover". These are saints! Before that, gay relationships flourished in Greece and Rome; it was thought that the bonding would form tighter ranks in the military. Old documents show that there was another ceremony before the marriage ceremony in the book that bonded two men in "brotherhood", and it's theorized that this was a form of same-sex marriage. So religion is probably not at fault for the current attitudes towards homosexuality, but it has escaladed it.

After discovering that I was gay, my mother did some very horrific things in the name of her religion. But not everyone is so strongly motivated by religion. Some people are just homophobic. They just have some sort of gut reaction that being gay is "gross". Or maybe the concept of two men having sex screws up their concept of masculinity (or two women and the concept of femininity, I suppose). Some people have had it instilled into their minds from such a young age that homosexuality is inherantly "wrong".

Then there's the misconception that homosexuality is a behavior. That's where all these ex-gay ministries pop up and such. Since many people think it can be changed, they think that homosexuals do it on purpose, that they could just change if they really wanted to. That contributes maybe.

Not to sound like an asshole, but it is purposeful to a certain extent. Obviously, you can't force yourself to love anybody, man or woman. But even in being gay, you do make the choice to be with men over women. But I will always support gay marriage. If you're happy, who cares who it's with? Happy is happy, gay or not. Marriage is based on LOVE, not sexual preference or race. Granted, I'm not gonna go out and watch Brokeback Mountain(My sister had me rent that movie for her, and she had already lost me at "The gay cowboys jump off of a cliff naked, then they spit in their hands and beat each other off!"), but I figure, if you're happy, and if you love the person, that's all that should matter.

I disagree with this very, very, very, very, very much.

I could stop sleeping with men (Matt wouldn't be very happy, but I could do it). But I don't think I could sleep with women. I just couldn't do it. The whole idea squicks me out quite a bit. I personally couldn't change the behavior. I wouldn't be able to... follow through.

No, what you said was what I was trying to basically say, I guess I just couldn't really word it right. You could chose to stop having relationships with men(or women), but you can't really force yourself to be with a person you don't want to be with, racial or sex wise.

My opinion of why I feel that homosexuality, especially in males, is viewed as "disgusting behavior" is due to the stigma associated with AIDS. Statistically, nearly 60% of all men in the US received AIDS through homosexual contact. AIDS was in fact originally called Gay-related immune deficiency after it was discovered in a group of homosexual men.

People are scared of disease, especially diseases that kill - like AIDS. You can't fight the facts on this, in America AIDS is most rapidly spreading in the homosexual community, and even more so in the black community. With correlations like this it causes people to fear or even despise homosexual men.

It was named GRID when it was found to be most Prominent in gay men.. But the original case of aids was a woman from paris.. and an old man.. it was also prominent in the haitian community. but as most of them were ilegals it was ignored even moreso then it was in the gay community...

And sadly had it not been for a very Prominet Rich woman having the disease.. the government would probably still be busy trying to pretend it never exsisted

However it's most prominent, and fastest spreading in African cultures.

Gay is gay and straight is straight. You either are or you aren't. It's something that your born with. It's not a disease and it's not a choice. You won't go to hell (if you believe in hell) for falling in love with another person.

I just ask anyone who seems to dislike gays one question.

What age were they when they decided they liked women (usually it's guys) better than men?

Many times when I meet a new person and they find out that I'm gay, I get asked a plethora of questions. "Why are you gay?" "When did you know?" "Do you have a boyfriend?" "How does that work?" "Do you like girls at all?" "Have you ever slept with/kissed a girl?"

It's like being gay suddenly excuses me from all privacy, and people get annoyed when I don't answer their questions, or answer with, "How is it any of your business?"
