WHAT
This is Offtopicz Football Pool. EVERYONE is eligible to play! You may only post one set of picks per week. Each week I will post a new thread for the NFL regular and post season 2008-2009 games.
RULES
Copy and paste the list of this week's games. The list is at the end of this post. Be sure you copy all of the games for this week.
Pick the team you think will win each game. Each week there will be one game that is designated as the tie-breaker game, it will usually be a Monday night game. Not only should you pick the winner of the tie-breaker game, but you should also pick the total number of points scored by both teams.
You may use any strategy you like. You can post them at the end of the previous weeks games, or wait until the last minute. But ALL picks and the tiebreaker MUST be posted before the start of the first game that week. Exception: Some weeks have early Thursday games, of which, your picks for that game must be in before the start of that game only. You may wait to post the rest of the weeks' games until just before those games begin. You MAY NOT edit your original picks to include the rest of them, even if the Thursday game is already played and tallied.
I would suggest posting your picks as quickly as possible, you will see why in the Explanation of Tie-Breaker section.
EXPLANATION OF TIE-BREAKER
At the end of each week, a list will be posted that shows who "won" that week and everyone's rank will be shown. The first criteria is the Win-Loss ratio. Whomever has picked the most winners will "win" the pool this week. If there is a tie between 2 or more people with the win-loss ratio, then I will use the tie-breaker guess to break the tie. The person who guesses closest to the total number of points scored by both teams will win the tie. If there is still a tie, the person who posted first will win the tie.
(Example: Person A posted first and his win-loss ratio is 12-4. He guessed a total of 40 points scored by both teams for the tie-breaker game. Person B posted after Person A and her win-loss ratio is also 12-4. She guessed a total of 38 points. The actual score of the tie-breaker game was 26 to 13. The total points = 39. Each person's guess is only 1 away from the actual total score. There is a tie. Person A wins the tie because he posted first.)
ALTERNATIVE STYLE POSTING
If you wish to make your picks but keep them a secret from other players here, you may post your picks and immediately delete your post. I will still be able to see that you, in fact, have posted and your picks will be in and valid. At the end of the games for that week, I will un-delete your post and tally your score.
WHAT DO I WIN!?
Each week you will win 1,000 Reputation points which I will have one of our two administrators add into your account. If you do not receive it quickly, do not worry. They're busy folks.
In addition to the prizes from the administrators, I will personally give 1,000 of MY tokenz into your personal account.
Each week we will have both a 1,000 rep point and 1,000 tokenz prizes for the overall winner of that week. That could be 17,000 of EACH if you win every week!
A NOTE FROM JAMES
As I do not have TV for this football season, I will be using NFL.com to tally up the wins and losses. NFL.com usually takes a little bit of time to update so be patient with me as I start the process at the end of that weeks' games. Thank you.
If you notice my making any mistakes, please feel free to correct me. I will keep an eye out, and I have a special helper this year to help me tally up the scores and do the statistics as well.
