If anyone feels the same as me.

Do you think that churches who announce what charities and how many people they have helped is bragging?

How about churches who keep asking for donations...like three times during a service? Good?

I went to this church Christmas thing last night. The host guy came on stage three times during the production and repeatedly asked for donations. He also keps talking about all the wonderful things their church has done.

Personally I don't like those HUGE churches. Where it doesn't seem like you are going to church but a show. The building has like two floors of seats, Stadium style. That's just my opinion.

Sometimes God doesn't reside in a church where man wants to make money. When it becomes more about give give give and less about worship worship worship, it's time to move on.

I understand that a church needs a congregation in order to keep the doors open. But when the church is bigger than the congregation it serves and a person gets lost among the sights, it's time to move on.

Besides, I don't need a church in order to be close to God. God is everywhere I want to be.

And I find nothing wrong with a church announcing where, and how much money people have donated, has been sent. Would you rather sit and ponder by not knowing if the money even left the tithe collector's account?

Sometimes...churches survive on people's charity....i see no harm in this, you give or you dont.

As to where they donate to....i think this is the perfect thing to do, wouldnt you like to know your money goes to good cause??Bragging??...bragging is when they have saved or cured these "charities".

Im not a religious person...but id like to believe there is more than this world.

Btw..i didnt know churches had host's now?...;)

No - I think it is very good for the congregation to hear what their money is going towards, what missionaries it is supporting, what activities outside of supporting the church itself are being supported. It's important, because it can reveal problems in the church if the church is giving money and focusing on the wrong things.

And yes, I would agree that asking for tithes more than once is over the top.

I like big churches because the worship and pastor's message are usually incredible, but I like small churches for the fellowship. Fortunately, I found a small church where the worship and pastor's message are incredible anyway, so that's where I'm staying. :)

I dont like how churches use their giving to charity to manipulate people to follow their beliefs. Like the Catholic orthanages refusing to let gay couples adopt kids.

I'd like to know what kind of activities the church is up to with every event they attend to or else set up, the church I used to go to before did a lot of functions helping children, feeding people during christmas, giving backpacks to children when they go back to school. They always seem to have something going on every few months and they always bring it up two or three times during church. I don't mind giving but sometimes it makes me feel I can't give enough to the church when they give out two envelopes to two different functions or reasons. I also felt the church lacked the substance which I needed in my life and that was being closer to God, they did the same old stuff as they did before and it's timed for 20 or so minutes to hear what message there is that day, also there's 20 minutes dedicated to asking for giving, 10 minutes of music, which is three songs. It was bland.

I agree - sounds like a horrible church. You should do some church shopping and find one that isn't so wordly focused.

I've never attended a church that spend more than 30 seconds asking for offerings. God will provide, and any church that doesn't believe that isn't one I want to be going to. If they feel they need to spend 20 minutes on asking people to give money, it's obvious they aren't trusting God that much.

Yeah, they also spend maybe 5 whole weeks on a very simple message which people should already know and understand. They also repeat the same stuff as the week before to make people more caught up who missed it or need to repeat it to understand it more, but it's just too repetitive. Now I've a slight problem since I stopped attending church but it's hard to find a new one which isn't similiar to the old one I go to. :(

Yes God will provide and he really prospered that church a whole lot but sometimes I just want more out of it, like love or being more friendly, I attended that one for a whole year where people my age just never approached me or talked to me, they always stayed in their group or cliques. Also the pastor never ever talks to people in a real way, it' more on being an image.

Yeah, I can certainly understand that. Too bad you don't live in my city, I'd have a great recommendation for you. :) All you can do is keep looking and visiting new churches, and pray that God would find a church where He wants you to be and where you will be most satisfied.
