Many people perform volunteer work. And lots of them say they do so because they want to help others.

However, other individuals point out that those who volunteer their time to help people aren't completely altruistic. They say that volunteer workers also help out because it
benefits them. It makes volunteers feel better about themselves.

There is some truth to that. But I still think it's important to emphasis that volunteers, although not completely altruistic, still really do care about those they're trying to help.
There is still a lot of altruism involved.

You can't help but feel good if it's something you want to do and are doing it. Depending on what you're doing, it can also make you feel such despair as well.. but you do it anyway, because it helps them. I help where I can, with no thought about how it makes me look or feel. If I help someone and it makes their day or life better, of course i will be overjoyed.. but that's not why I did it. many out there are looking to feel better about themselves though.. so be it. Help is help, it's always needed, no matter by whom.
