Visualize World Peace

Of all the millions of species on this planet, the humans are of very few that will kill members of their own species because of conflicts over resources such as food, water, mates, and personal space. to this author's knowledge, humans are the only ones that will kill each other for sport.

Is this the nature of the species as a species that is more social and less solitary, or is this behavior the result of the dominant members that want to kill to acquire material and power leading the rest of the flock into acts of conquest accompanied by rape, pillage and plunder of their victims?

If we consider the deaths of people who tried to lead people into peace and equality, like jesus, joan of arc and martin king, coupled with the general desire among most people for a world without war, seems to say that the latter is true. we as a people are being led into death and destruction by a very small minority of our population.

Can we as a species overcome this drive to kill? How can the control of those warmongering, slavekeeping dominant humans be broken and human society learn to live in peace with each other and in harmony with the rest of the natural world?

I'd say quite a lot of animals kill each other over lack of resources. Take birds, for example. Your average brood will always have a weakling that wont survive unless there is an abundance of food, in fact, in a lot of cases, the other baby birds will chuck it out of the nest and certainly wont share with it if there is enough to go around.

you're begging the question by attempting to show exceptions to the premises.

can you respond to the question?

i dont know about this.......if a troop of chimps captures a male from a rival troop it will kill it,often in a drawn out and brutal way, this could be considered a sport kill because they seem to enjoy the act

I thought I had just responded to that point. Pretty much agree with the rest of what you're saying, just generating more interest and debate in the thread by debating that point.;)

okay guys, i knew there would be exceptions to the premises given, but i'm a seditionist at heart and i was hoping to get some feedback on what possibilities there might be for breaking the grip of the warmongering, slavekeeping, ecologically disastrous industrialist bankers and their minions on society.

armed revolution? unfortunatley history has shown us that such attempts to revolt always end badly and the peaceful approach (which i would prefer) takes generations to catch on, by which time we have forgotten waht we were arguing about in the first place

isaac asimov wrote that violence is the last refuge of the incompetant. also relevant is a quote from george orwell stating that political language is crafted to make lies appear truthful and murder appear respectable.

i'm a bit of a dinosaur, having grown up in the 60's and hitching my wagon to the peace train. some of us still survive and are still seeking a peaceful solution.

I understand what you are advocating for but it's a fight where you are on the losing side. Peace and civility will take centuries to fully sink in, if at all. Just look at that thread about capital punishment, how can you expect peace when there are so many that hunger for death?

i've learned not to have expectations. we can always hope.

until the great pirates and their puppet politicians can either be enlightened or removed, things will go on as usual. buckminster fuller, in operating manual for spaceship earth has posulated that the same people who run this world's mayhem are descended from the same people who were doing it in the times of the ancient empires.

the bush family and it's participation in warfare and the exploitation of human and natural resources traces back to the time of elizabeth i. in our era, they were the carpetbaggers of the reconstruction period and they exemplify the 'overzealous' leaders of the military-industrial complex that dwight eisenhower warned us about.

one of our anthems from the 70's: cat stevens 'peace train'

i'm pissed! why is this board doing that to hyperlinks i'm trying to post to you boob videos?

here's the lyrics:

Peace Train

by Cat Stevens

Now I've been happy lately, thinking about the good things to comeAnd I believe it could be, something good has begunOh I've been smiling lately, dreaming about the world as oneAnd I believe it could be, some day it's going to comeCause out on the edge of darkness, there rides a peace trainOh peace train take this country, come take me home againNow I've been smiling lately, thinking about the good things to comeAnd I believe it could be, something good has begunOh peace train sounding louderGlide on the peace trainCome on now peace trainYes, peace train holy rollerEveryone jump upon the peace trainCome on now peace trainGet your bags together, go bring your good friends tooCause it's getting nearer, it soon will be with youNow come and join the living, it's not so far from youAnd it's getting nearer, soon it will all be trueNow I've been crying lately, thinking about the world as it isWhy must we go on hating, why can't we live in blissCause out on the edge of darkness, there rides a peace trainOh peace train take this country, come take me home again

Isn't Cat Stevens now a Muslim though? You know, the scapegoat to all the worlds problems? Think even less people will listen to him than did 10 years ago.

As a species? No, I don't think so. I think that we humans can be antything we want to be as long as we do it in small groups, but once we grow into larger societies, anonymity creeps in. People cease being people, human beings of intrinsic value, and become "them." So long as a group stays small enough that no one becomes "them," then yes, that group can learn to live in peace and harmoniously deal with others outside that group. I think that any number of these groups can exist simultaneously. But I don't think that people can live in such a way and identify themselves as a member of a society of millions, and I don't think that humans, being social animals, can live without identifying themselves as members of any group at all.

most muslims are peaceful.......most terrorists are muslims:nod:
you mean most terrorists that the plutocrats want you to know about.

most terrorists are NOT muslims and get as little press as possible whenever they pull off an attack.

the most active terrorist group in the world is the ELF (Earth Liberation Front) and i'll bet few of them are moslem.

okay, how about as a society of these cells you describe?

can there be peace among people and peace between human society and the natural world or are we doomed to a never ending cycle of warfare run on ecologically unsound industrial processes?
